Congenital heart disease in patients with Turner’s syndrome
Laura Mazzanti,Emanuele Cacciari +1 more
TL;DR: X-linked factors may be involved in determining cardiac defects in Turner's syndrome, and the patients with severe dysmorphic signs showed a significantly higher relative risk of cardiac malformations.
Journal ArticleDOI
The glucose area under the profiles obtained with continuous glucose monitoring system relationships with HbAlc in pediatric type 1 diabetic patients
Silvana Salardi,Stefano Zucchini,Roberta Santoni,Luca Ragni,Stefano Gualandi,Alessandro Cicognani,Emanuele Cacciari +6 more
TL;DR: HbA(1c) levels may be decreased by using the information obtained with the CGMS, and the whole mean 24-h glycemia and not just the postprandial glucose values are necessary to improve metabolic control.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk factors for congenital hypothyroidism: results of a population case-control study (1997-2003).
Emanuela Medda,Antonella Olivieri,Maria Antonietta Stazi,Michele E. Grandolfo,Cristina Fazzini,Mariangiola Baserga,Massimo Burroni,Emanuele Cacciari,Francesca Calaciura,Alessandra Cassio,Luca Chiovato,Pietro Costa,Daniela Leonardi,Maria Martucci,Lidia Moschini,Severo Pagliardini,Giuseppe Parlato,Alberto Pignero,Aldo Pinchera,Danielle Sala,Lidia Sava,Vera Stoppioni,Francesco Tancredi,Fabiola Valentini,Riccardo Vigneri,Mariella Sorcini +25 more

Journal ArticleDOI
Neonatal screening for congenital adrenal hyperplasia.
Emanuele Cacciari,Balsamo A,Alessandra Cassio,S. Piazzi,Filippo Bernardi,Silvana Salardi,Alessandro Cicognani,Piero Pirazzoli,Franco Zappulla,Maurizio Capelli +9 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that neonatal screening for congenital adrenal hyperplasia caused by 21-hydroxylase deficiency was possible by this method and that the infants' maturity and the particular day of collection of the samples affect the values but not the validity of the screening.
Journal ArticleDOI
Variability of growth hormone response to pharmacological and sleep tests performed twice in short children.
Paola Tassoni,Emanuele Cacciari,Marco Cau,C Colli,Tosi Mariateresa,Stefano Zucchini,Alessandro Cicognani,Piero Pirazzoli,Silvana Salardi,Antonio Balsamo,E Frejaville,Alessandra Cassio,Franco Zappulla +12 more
TL;DR: To prevent an erroneous interpretation of the GH test results, it is very important to perform a sleep test and repeat it whenever GH secretion seems to be deficient or at the lower limits of normalcy.
