Journal ArticleDOI

Structural and Raman spectroscopic studies as complementary tools in elucidating the nature of the bonding in polyiodides and in donor-I2 adducts

TL;DR: In this paper, structural and vibrational features of polyiodides and donor-I2 adducts are used to remove the arbitrariness in considering discrete/non discrete entities and to provide a unified picture of the bonding in these species.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electronic factors affecting second-order NLO properties: case study of four different push-pull bis-dithiolene nickel complexes.

TL;DR: The first molecular hyperpolarizabilities have been calculated and their components have been analyzed with the simplest two-level approximation and the derived picture highlights the different roles of the two push and pull ligands, but also the peculiar perturbation of the pi-electron density induced by the terminal CS(3) grouping of the ligand dmit.
Journal ArticleDOI

FT-Raman Study on Charge-Transfer Polyiodide Complexes and Comparison with Resonance Raman Results

TL;DR: In this article, the Fourier transform Raman (FT-R) spectra of polyiodides were used for resonance Raman spectroscopy and the results showed that the results were consistent with the I-·2I2, I3-I2 and I3·I2 descriptions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis, Characterization, and Crystal Structures of New Dications Bearing the -Se-Se- Bridge.

TL;DR: Starting from 1,3-dimethyl-4-imidazoline-2-selone, the selenium compounds are oxidized to dications bearing the uncommon -Se-Se- bridge, and I-V crystallographically characterized, allowing one to identify two bands around 230 +/- 10 and 193 +/- 5 cm(-1) that are common to all compounds.
Journal ArticleDOI

[Ni(R2pipdt)2](BF4)2 (R2pipdt = 1,4-disubstituted-piperazine-3,2-dithione) as useful precursors of mixed-ligand dithiolenes of interest for non-linear optics.

TL;DR: A simple method to obtain in high yields mixed-ligand nickel-dithiolene complexes, which show strong negative solvatochromism and negative first molecular hyperpolarizability, and the use of Raman spectroscopy to establish the extent of electronic delocalisation in these complexes are reported.
