Cobalt single-molecule magnet

TL;DR: In this article, a single-molecule magnet with negative magnetoanisotropy has been found to have a S = 6 ground state with considerable negative magneto-isotropic properties, where the single ion zero-field interactions (DSz2) at each cobalt ion are the origin of the negative magnetosotropy.
Journal ArticleDOI

The First Cobalt Single-Molecule Magnet

TL;DR: The first cobalt molecule to function as a single-molecule magnet, [Co4(hmp)4(MeOH)4Cl4], where hmp- is the anion of hydroxymethylpyridine, is reported in this article.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fast magnetization tunneling in tetranickel(II) single-molecule magnets.

TL;DR: A series of Ni(4) cubane complexes with the composition [Ni(hmp)(ROH)Cl](4) complexes 1-4 were characterized by dc magnetic susceptibility data to give an S = 4 ground state with significant magnetoanisotropy (D approximately equal to -0.6 cm(-1)).
Journal ArticleDOI

Exchange bias in Ni4 single-molecule magnets

TL;DR: In this paper, the synthesis and physical properties of three single-molecule magnets (SMMs) with the composition [Ni(hmp)(ROH)Cl]4, where R is the monoanion of 2-hydroxymethylpyridine.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mn 4 single-molecule magnets with a planar diamond core and S =9

TL;DR: In this paper, the synthesis and magnetic properties of three Mn4 single-molecule magnets are reported and the fact that these complexes are SMMs has been confirmed by the observation of hysteresis in the plot of magnetization versus magnetic field measured for single crystals of complexes 3 and 4.
