Two Steps in One Pot: Enzyme Cascade for the Synthesis of Nor(pseudo)ephedrine from Inexpensive Starting Materials
Torsten Sehl,Helen C. Hailes,John M. Ward,Rainer Wardenga,Eric von Lieres,Heike Offermann,Robert Westphal,Martina Pohl,Dörte Rother +8 more
Journal ArticleDOI
A fast and accurate solver for the general rate model of column liquid chromatography
Eric von Lieres,Joel Andersson +1 more
TL;DR: This work has developed and implemented a fast and accurate solver for the general rate model with various adsorption isotherms, using the weighted essentially non-oscillatory (WENO) method and customized code that can be executed on parallel computers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spatiotemporal microbial single-cell analysis using a high-throughput microfluidics cultivation platform
Alexander Grünberger,Christopher Probst,Stefan Helfrich,Arun Nanda,Birgit Stute,Wolfgang Wiechert,Eric von Lieres,Katharina Nöh,Julia Frunzke,Dietrich Kohlheyer +9 more
TL;DR: A microfluidic single‐cell cultivation platform that incorporates several hundred growth chambers, in which isogenic bacteria microcolonies growing in cell monolayers are tracked by automated time‐lapse microscopy with spatiotemporal resolution, and reveals spontaneous SOS induction in the absence of any external trigger comparable to conventional FC results.
Journal ArticleDOI
A microfluidic co-cultivation platform to investigate microbial interactions at defined microenvironments
Alina Burmeister,Fabienne Hilgers,Annika Langner,Christoph Westerwalbesloh,Yannic Kerkhoff,Niklas Tenhaef,Thomas Drepper,Dietrich Kohlheyer,Dietrich Kohlheyer,Eric von Lieres,Stephan Noack,Alexander Grünberger,Alexander Grünberger +12 more
TL;DR: A microfluidic co-cultivation platform for the analysis of growth and interactions inside microbial consortia with single-cell resolution is presented, laying the foundation for further studies on contactless and contact-based interactions of natural and synthetic microbial communities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Can enzyme proximity accelerate cascade reactions
A. R. Kuzmak,Sheiliza Carmali,Sheiliza Carmali,Eric von Lieres,Alan J. Russell,Svyatoslav Kondrat +5 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that proximity can have a more pronounced effect under crowding conditions in vivo, particularly that crowding can enhance the overall rates of channeled cascade reactions.
