Journal ArticleDOI
Radiofrequency Ablation vs Endoscopic Surveillance for Patients With Barrett Esophagus and Low-Grade Dysplasia: A Randomized Clinical Trial
K. Nadine Phoa,Frederike G. Van Vilsteren,Bas L. Weusten,Raf Bisschops,Erik J. Schoon,Krish Ragunath,Grant Fullarton,Massimiliano di Pietro,Narayanasamy Ravi,Mike Visser,G. Johan A. Offerhaus,Cees A. Seldenrijk,Sybren L. Meijer,Fiebo J.W. ten Kate,Jan G.P. Tijssen,Jacques J. Bergman +15 more
TL;DR: Radiofrequency ablation resulted in a reduced risk of neoplastic progression over 3 years of follow-up and the data and safety monitoring board recommended early termination of the trial due to superiority of ablation for the primary outcome and the potential for patient safety issues if the trial continued.
Journal ArticleDOI
Endoscopic or surgical step-up approach for infected necrotising pancreatitis : A multicentre randomised trial
Sandra van Brunschot,Janneke van Grinsven,Hjalmar C. van Santvoort,Olaf J. Bakker,Marc G. Besselink,Marja A. Boermeester,Thomas L. Bollen,Koop Bosscha,Stefan A.W. Bouwense,Marco J. Bruno,Vincent C. TL;DR: In patients with infected necrotising pancreatitis, the endoscopic step-up approach was not superior to the surgical step- up approach in reducing major complications or death, and the rate of pancreatic fistulas and length of hospital stay were lower in the endoscopy group.
Journal ArticleDOI
Remission of Barrett's Esophagus With Early Neoplasia 5 Years After Radiofrequency Ablation With Endoscopic Resection: A Netherlands Cohort Study
K. Nadine Phoa,Roos E. Pouw,Frederike G. Van Vilsteren,Carine Sondermeijer,Fiebo J.W. ten Kate,Mike Visser,Sybren L. Meijer,Mark I. van Berge Henegouwen,Bas L. Weusten,Erik J. Schoon,R.C. Mallant-Hent,Jacques J. Bergman +11 more
TL;DR: Among patients who have undergone RFA with or without endoscopic resection for neoplastic BE, 90% remain in remission at 5-year follow-up, with all recurrences managed endoscopically.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multimodality endoscopic eradication for neoplastic Barrett oesophagus: results of an European multicentre study (EURO-II)
K. Nadine Phoa,Roos E. Pouw,Raf Bisschops,Oliver Pech,Krish Ragunath,Bas L. Weusten,Brigitte Schumacher,Bjorn Rembacken,Alexander Meining,Helmut Messmann,Erik J. Schoon,Liebwin Gossner,Jayan Mannath,C A Seldenrijk,Mike Visser,Toni Lerut,Stefan Seewald,Fiebo J.W. ten Kate,Christian Ell,Horst Neuhaus,Jacques J. Bergman +20 more
TL;DR: In patients with early Barrett's neoplasia, intensive multimodality endotherapy consisting of ER combined with RFA is safe and highly effective, and the treatment effect appears to be durable during mid-term follow-up.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development and validation of the WASP classification system for optical diagnosis of adenomas, hyperplastic polyps and sessile serrated adenomas/polyps
Joep E. G. IJspeert,Barbara A. J. Bastiaansen,Monique E. van Leerdam,Gerrit A. Meijer,Susanne van Eeden,Silvia Sanduleanu,Erik J. Schoon,Tanya M. Bisseling,Manon C.W. Spaander,Niels van Lelyveld,Marloes Bargeman,Junfeng Wang,Evelien Dekker,Dutch Workgroup serrAted polypS Polyposis +13 more
TL;DR: In a still image evaluation setting, introduction of the WASP classification significantly improved the accuracy of optical diagnosis overall as well as SSA/P in particular, which proved to be sustainable after 6 months.
