Bax,Lars Søndergaard,John G. Webb,Thierry Lefèvre,Martin B. Leon,Raj Makkar +61 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared the procedural and clinical outcomes in patients with bicuspid versus tricusid aortic valve stenosis (AS) from the BICUSID AS TAVR multicenter registry.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical Bioprosthetic Heart Valve Thrombosis After Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement: Incidence, Characteristics, and Treatment Outcomes
John Jose,Dmitriy S. Sulimov,Mohamed El-Mawardy,Takao Sato,Abdelhakim Allali,Erik W. Holy,Björn Becker,Martin Landt,Julia Kebernik,Bettina Schwarz,Gert Richardt,Mohamed Abdel-Wahab +11 more
TL;DR: Clinical transcatheter heart valve thrombosis is more common than previously considered, characterized by imaging abnormalities and increased gradients and N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide levels and Randomized control trials are needed to define optimal antithrombotic therapy aftertranscatheter aortic valve replacement.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement With Early- and New-Generation Devices in Bicuspid Aortic Valve Stenosis.
Sung Han Yoon,Thierry Lefèvre,Jung Ming Ahn,Gidon Y. Perlman,Danny Dvir,Azeem Latib,Marco Barbanti,Florian Deuschl,Ole De Backer,Philipp Blanke,Thomas Modine,Gregor Pache,Franz-Josef Neumann,Philipp Ruile,Takahide Arai,Yohei Ohno,Hidehiro Kaneko,Edgar Tay,Niklas Schofer,Erik W. Bax,Corrado Tamburino,Antonio Colombo,Lars Søndergaard,John G. Webb,Seung-Jung Park +50 more
TL;DR: New-generation devices were associated with less paravalvular leak and, hence, a higher device success rate than early- Generation devices, and the clinical outcomes of TAVR in patients with bicuspid AS were favorable.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bicuspid Aortic Valve Stenosis: Favorable Early Outcomes With a Next-Generation Transcatheter Heart Valve in a Multicenter Study.
Gidon Y. Perlman,Philipp Blanke,Danny Dvir,Gregor Pache,Thomas Modine,Marco Barbanti,Erik W. Holy,Hendrik Treede,Philipp Ruile,Franz-Josef Neumann,Caterina Gandolfo,Francesco Saia,Corrado Tamburino,George Mak,Christopher R. Thompson,David A. Wood,Jonathon Leipsic,John G. Webb +17 more
TL;DR: TAVR in bicuspid AS using a new-generation TAVR device was feasible and effective with favorable valve performance and no cases of moderate or severe AR.
Journal ArticleDOI
Carbamylated low-density lipoprotein induces endothelial dysfunction
Thimoteus Speer,Frederick O. Owala,Erik W. Holy,Stephen Zewinger,Felix Frenzel,Barbara E. Stähli,Marjan Razavi,Sarah Triem,Hrvoje Cvija,Lucia Rohrer,Sarah Seiler,Gunnar H. Heine,Vera Jankowski,Joachim Jankowski,Giovanni G. Camici,Alexander Akhmedov,Danilo Fliser,Thomas F. Lüscher,Felix C. Tanner +18 more
TL;DR: In patients with CKD, LDL-carbamyl-lysine levels were significant predictors for cardiovascular events and all-cause mortality and indicates a novel mechanism in the pathogenesis of atherosclerotic disease which may be pathogenic and prognostic in patients with chronic kidney disease and high plasma levels of cLDL.
