Urban green space cooling effect in cities

TL;DR: The results of the present study illustrate that the highest cooling effect distance and cooling effect intensity are for large urban parks with an area of more than 10 ha; however, in addition to the area, the natural elements and qualities of the urban green spaces, as well as climate characteristics, highly inform the urbanGreen space cooling effect.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluating the impact of urban green space and landscape design parameters on thermal comfort in hot summer by numerical simulation

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the thermal comfort modification potential of a long belt-shaped park (around 9 km) in Beijing and the effects of its landscape parameters using numerical simulation.
Journal ArticleDOI

The cooling and energy saving effect of landscape design parameters of urban park in summer: A case of Beijing, China

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors investigated the cooling and energy saving effect of landscape parameters in an urban park of Beijing during a hot summer continuous in-site microclimate data of individual parameters including grass, water body, tree and artificial shading device.
Journal ArticleDOI

The cooling effect of large-scale urban parks on surrounding area thermal comfort

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated large urban park cooling effects on the thermal comfort of occupants in the vicinity of the main central park, located in Madrid, Spain and found that the cooling effect of this urban park of 125 ha area at a distance of 150 m could reduce air temperatures by an average of 0.63 °C and 1.28 °C for distances of 380 m and 665 meters from the park.
Journal ArticleDOI

Urban heat resilience at the time of global warming: evaluating the impact of the urban parks on outdoor thermal comfort

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the cooling effect intensity (CEI) of the Retiro Park in the center of Madrid at three different distances from its southern edge and the impact of this cooling effect on thermal comfort from physiological and psychological perspectives.
