Journal Article

Increase in "pain sensitivity" induced by exercise applied during the onset of arthritis in a model of monoarthritis in the rat.

TL;DR: This model appears to be a suitable alternative for the polyarthritic rat for chronic studies based on both its ethical and scientific advantages and is discussed in view of observations made in human studies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Absence of long-term changes in biochemical markers of monoaminergic systems afferent to the excitotoxically neuron-depleted somatosensory thalamus.

TL;DR: The present study suggests that the quantity of monoamines in afferents to the rat VB does not depend upon the presence of postsynaptic target neurons, and a non-vesicular storage compartment may compensate the loss of synaptic vesicles in Afferent fibers to the lesioned area.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in total and free tryptophan levels in serum following acute morphine administration in arthritic rats.

TL;DR: Observed changes in serum levels and brain levels suggest that the rise in 5-hydroxytryptamine synthesis provoked by morphine may be partly related to an increase in the availability of tryptophan from blood.
Journal ArticleDOI

Regional distribution of 3-O-methyl-DOPA in the cortex and subcortical structures in the rat: effect of aging.

TL;DR: A marked increase in the level of 3-OMDOPA was observed in all the cortical areas and in the hippocampus of aged rats, compared to those observed in the levels of dopamine in the same areas.
