Journal ArticleDOI
Validation of clinicoradiological criteria for the diagnosis of cerebral amyloid angiopathy-related inflammation
Eitan Auriel,Eitan Auriel,Andreas Charidimou,M. Edip Gurol,Jun Ni,Ellis S. van Etten,Sergi Martinez-Ramirez,Gregoire Boulouis,Fabrizio Piazza,Jacopo C. DiFrancesco,Matthew P. Frosch,Octάvio M. Pontes-Neto,Ashkan Shoamanesh,Ashkan Shoamanesh,Yael D. Reijmer,Anastasia Vashkevich,Alison M. Ayres,Kristin M. Schwab,Anand Viswanathan,Steven M. Greenberg,Steven M. Greenberg +20 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that a reliable diagnosis of CAA-ri can be reached from basic clinical and magnetic resonance imaging information alone, with good sensitivity and excellent specificity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anti-amyloid β autoantibodies in cerebral amyloid angiopathy-related inflammation: implications for amyloid-modifying therapies.
Fabrizio Piazza,Steven M. Greenberg,Mario Savoiardo,Margherita Gardinetti,Luisa Chiapparini,Irina Raicher,Ricardo Nitrini,Hideya Sakaguchi,M. Brioschi,Giuseppe Billo,Antonio Colombo,Francesca Lanzani,Giuseppe Piscosquito,Maria Rita Carriero,Giorgio Giaccone,Fabrizio Tagliavini,Carlo Ferrarese,Jacopo C. DiFrancesco +17 more
TL;DR: The role of anti–amyloid β (Aβ) autoantibodies in the acute and remission phases of cerebral amyloid angiopathy–related inflammation is investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ubiquitin regulates GGA3-mediated degradation of BACE1
TL;DR: It is found that BACE1 is ubiquitinated at lysine 501 and is mainly monoubiquitinated and Lys-63-linked polyubiquininated, indicating that levels of GGA3 tightly and inversely regulate Bace1 levels via interaction with ubiquitin sorting machinery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neuroactive Steroid Levels are Modified in Cerebrospinal Fluid and Plasma of Post‐Finasteride Patients Showing Persistent Sexual Side Effects and Anxious/Depressive Symptomatology
Roberto Cosimo Melcangi,Donatella Caruso,Federico Abbiati,Silvia Giatti,Donato Calabrese,Fabrizio Piazza,Guido Cavaletti +6 more
TL;DR: It is confirmed that an impairment of neuroactive steroid levels, associated with depression symptoms, is still present in androgenic alopecia patients treated with finasteride despite the discontinuation of the treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Alpha-synuclein nitration and autophagy response are induced in peripheral blood cells from patients with Parkinson disease.
Alessandro Prigione,Fabrizio Piazza,L Brighina,Barbara Begni,A. Galbussera,Jacopo C. DiFrancesco,Simona Andreoni,R. Piolti,Carlo Ferrarese +8 more
TL;DR: A significant activation of the autophagy response was identified within PBMCs from PD individuals, which could represent a protective mechanism against abnormal protein accumulation and may explain the lack of aSN aggregation.
