Inhibition Of Cell Growth And Induction Of Apoptosis In Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Cells By Delta-Tocotrienol Is Associated With Notch-1 Down-Regulation
TL;DR: The results suggest that down‐regulation of Notch‐1, via inhibition of NF‐κB signaling pathways by delta‐tocotrienol, could provide a potential novel approach for prevention of tumor progression in non‐small cell lung cancer.
Journal Article
Genistein Potentiates the Radiation Effect on Prostate Carcinoma Cells
Gilda G. Hillman,Jeffrey D. Forman,Omer Kucuk,Mark Yudelev,Richard L. Maughan,Johanna Rubio,Andrey Layer,Samuel Tekyi-Mensah,Judith Abrams,Fazlul H. Sarkar +9 more
TL;DR: Genistein can augment the effect of neutrons at doses approximately 2-fold lower than photon doses required to observe the same efficacy, suggesting a potential of combining genistein with radiation for the treatment of localized prostate carcinoma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tumor cell-mediated neovascularization and lymphangiogenesis contrive tumor progression and cancer metastasis.
Zhifei Cao,Bingxue Shang,Gaochuan Zhang,Lucio Miele,Fazlul H. Sarkar,Zhiwei Wang,Zhiwei Wang,Quansheng Zhou +7 more
TL;DR: Dual targeting of endothelial sprouting angiogenesis and tumor cell-mediated neovascularization and lymphangiogenesis may overcome current clinical problems with anti-angiogenic therapy, resulting in significantly improved anti-angelogenesis and anti-cancer therapies.
Journal Article
Cyclooxygenase-2-dependent and -independent effects of celecoxib in pancreatic cancer cell lines
TL;DR: It is concluded that celecoxib potentiates gemcitabine-induced growth inhibition and apoptosis in pancreatic cell lines and down-regulation of transcription of the COX-2 enzyme is observed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Apoptosis‐inducing effect of garcinol is mediated by NF‐κB signaling in breast cancer cells
Aamir Ahmad,Zhiwei Wang,Raza Ali,Ma'in Y. Maitah,Dejuan Kong,Sanjeev Banerjee,Subhash Padhye,Fazlul H. Sarkar +7 more
TL;DR: The first report on anti‐proliferative and apoptosis‐inducing action of garcinol against human breast cancer cells is reported and the results suggest that this natural compound merits investigation as a potential chemo‐preventive/‐therapeutic agent, especially against breast cancer.
