Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of the national policy of single screening and treatment for the prevention of malaria in pregnancy in two districts in Eastern Indonesia: health provider perceptions.
Jenny Hill,Chandra Umbu Reku Landuwulang,Ansariadi,Ansariadi,Jenna Hoyt,Faustina Helena Burdam,Irene Bonsapia,Din Syafruddin,Jeanne Rini Poespoprodjo,Feiko O. ter Kuile,Rukhsana Ahmed,Jayne Webster +11 more
TL;DR: Assessment of health providers’ acceptability and perceptions on the feasibility of implementing the single screening and treatment (SST) strategy in the context of the national programme in two endemic provinces of Indonesia indicates that SST was an acceptable strategy among health providers, however implementation was inconsistent.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prioritizing Pregnant Women for Long-Lasting Insecticide Treated Nets through Antenatal Care Clinics
Jenny Hill,Jenna Hoyt,Anna Maria van Eijk,Feiko O. ter Kuile,Jayne Webster,Richard W. Steketee +5 more
TL;DR: The importance of antenatal care services in providing pregnant women with a long-lasting insecticide treated net for the prevention of malaria in both the mother and infant is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cost effectiveness of intermittent screening followed by treatment versus intermittent preventive treatment during pregnancy in West Africa: analysis and modelling of results from a non-inferiority trial.
Silke Fernandes,Elisa Sicuri,Diawara Halimatou,James Akazili,Kalifa Boiang,Daniel Chandramohan,Sheikh Coulibaly,Sory Ibrahim Diawara,Kassoum Kayentao,Kassoum Kayentao,Feiko O. ter Kuile,Pascal Magnussen,Harry Tagbor,John W Williams,Arouna Woukeu,Matthew Cairns,Brian Greenwood,Kara Hanson +17 more
TL;DR: Simulations show that cost-effectiveness of ISTp-AL increases as the efficacy of IPTp-SP decreases, though the specific threshold at which ISTP-AL becomes cost-effective depends on assumptions about the contribution of bed nets to malaria control, bed net coverage and the willingness-to-pay threshold used.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ivermectin as a Complementary Strategy to Kill Mosquitoes and Stop Malaria Transmission
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that a small number of mosquitoes (approximately ≤1%) surviving the ivermectin exposure can become malaria infected and infective after membrane feeding on malaria-infected blood, suggesting that the transmission-blocking properties of iverMectin may be predominantly resulting from its mosquitocidal properties.
Journal ArticleDOI
Minimal Impact by Antenatal Subpatent Plasmodium falciparum Infections on Delivery Outcomes in Malawian Women: A Cohort Study.
Steve M. Taylor,Steve M. Taylor,Mwayiwawo Madanitsa,Kyaw L. Thwai,Carole Khairallah,Linda Kalilani-Phiri,Anna Maria van Eijk,Victor Mwapasa,Feiko O. ter Kuile,Steven R. Meshnick +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, pregnant women of any gravidity status were tested at each antenatal visit for Plasmodium falciparum, using an RDT and polymerase chain reaction analysis, and were followed until delivery.
