Assessing the evidence for stakeholder engagement in biodiversity conservation
Eleanor J. Sterling,Erin Betley,Amanda Sigouin,Andrés Gómez,Anne Toomey,Georgina Cullman,Cynthia Malone,Adam Pekor,Felicity Arengo,Mary E. Blair,Chris Filardi,Kimberley Landrigan,Ana Luz Porzecanski +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors reviewed evidence from the peer-reviewed and grey literatures related to the role of stakeholder engagement (both externally-driven and self-organized engagement) in biodiversity conservation at the local scale using both quantitative and qualitative approaches.
Journal ArticleDOI
Predicting connectivity of green turtles at Palmyra Atoll, central Pacific: a focus on mtDNA and dispersal modelling
Eugenia Naro-Maciel,Stephen J. Gaughran,Nathan F. Putman,George Amato,Felicity Arengo,Peter H. Dutton,Katherine W. McFadden,Erin C. Vintinner,Eleanor J. Sterling +8 more
TL;DR: Analysis of mitochondrial sequences from turtles and simulations of particle dispersal in a high-resolution ocean circulation model indicated that turtles could potentially drift from rookeries to Palmyra Atoll via surface currents along a near-Equatorial swathe traversing the Pacific.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ecology and Conservation of Marine Turtles in a Central Pacific Foraging Ground
Eleanor J. Sterling,Katherine W. McFadden,Katherine W. McFadden,Katherine E. Holmes,Katherine E. Holmes,Erin C. Vintinner,Felicity Arengo,Eugenia Naro-Maciel +7 more
TL;DR: This study represents the first data and discussion on marine turtle distribution, abundance, and health at a marine turtle foraging ground in the central Pacific, Palmyra Atoll National Wildlife Refuge, which constitutes a regionally important mixed-size-class foragingGround for green turtles and hawksbill turtles.
Journal ArticleDOI
The arid Andean plateau waterscapes and the lithium triangle: flamingos as flagships for conservation of high-altitude wetlands under pressure from mining development
TL;DR: A review of the Environmental Impact Reports (IIAs) for projects in Catamarca, Argentina, shows that they do not adequately address water budgets, consider protected area status, engage local communities, or consider cumulative and synergistic impacts as discussed by the authors .
Seasonal activity patterns and abundance of andean flamingo (phoenicoparrus andinus) at two contrasting wetlands in argentina
Enrique J. Derlindati,Marcelo Romano,Nancy N. Cruz,Caterina Barison,Felicity Arengo,Ignacio M. Barberis +5 more
TL;DR: Derlindati et al. as mentioned in this paper presented a model for the conservation of Flamenco Altoandinos in the context of the Argentina National Geographic Institute (INTEF).
