Journal ArticleDOI
Frequency of TERT promoter mutations in human cancers.
João Vinagre,Ana Margarida Almeida,Ana Margarida Almeida,Helena Pópulo,Rui Batista,Joana Lyra,Joana Lyra,Vasco Pinto,Vasco Pinto,Ricardo Marques Coelho,Ricardo Marques Coelho,Ricardo Celestino,Hugo Prazeres,Luís Lima,Miguel Melo,Adriana Gaspar da Rocha,Adriana Gaspar da Rocha,Ana Preto,Ana Preto,Patrícia Castro,Lígia Castro,Fernando Pardal,José Manuel Lopes,José Manuel Lopes,Lúcio Lara Santos,Rui Manuel Reis,José Cameselle-Teijeiro,Manuel Sobrinho-Simões,Manuel Sobrinho-Simões,Jorge Lima,Jorge Lima,Valdemar Máximo,Valdemar Máximo,Paula Soares,Paula Soares +34 more
TL;DR: The results show that TERT promoter mutations are relatively frequent in specific types of human cancers, where they lead to enhanced expression of telomerase.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expression, mutation and copy number analysis of platelet-derived growth factor receptor A (PDGFRA) and its ligand PDGFA in gliomas
Olga Martinho,Adhemar Longatto-Filho,Adhemar Longatto-Filho,M B K Lambros,Albino Martins,Céline Pinheiro,Aline Bomfim Silva,Fernando Pardal,Júlia Amorim,Alan Mackay,Fernanda Milanezi,Narinder Tamber,Kerry Fenwick,Alan Ashworth,Jorge S. Reis-Filho,José Manuel Lopes,Rui Manuel Reis +16 more
TL;DR: The concurrent expression of PDGFA and PDGFRA in different subtypes of glioma, reinforce the recognised significance of this signalling pathway in gliomas.
Journal Article
Clinicopathological correlation and prognostic significance of VEGF-A, VEGF-C, VEGFR-2 and VEGFR-3 expression in colorectal cancer
Sandra F. Martins,Eduardo A. Garcia,Marcus Alexandre Mendes Luz,Fernando Pardal,Mesquita Rodrigues,Adhemar Longatto Filho +5 more
TL;DR: Quantification of VEGF-A, V EGF-C, VEG FR-2 and VEGFR-3 expression seems to provide valuable prognostic information in CRC and the correlation with clinicopathological data revealed an association with characteristics that contribute to progression, invasion and metastasis leading to poorer survival rates and prognosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mutation analysis of B-RAF gene in human gliomas.
Diana Basto,Vítor Trovisco,José Manuel Lopes,Albino Martins,Fernando Pardal,Paula Soares,Rui Manuel Reis +6 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that activating mutations of B-RAF are not a frequent event in gliomas; nevertheless, when present they are associated with high-grade malignant lesions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association between functional EGF+61 polymorphism and glioma risk.
Bruno M. Costa,Paulo Ferreira,Sandra Costa,Paulo Canedo,Pedro Oliveira,Ana M. G. Silva,Fernando Pardal,Gianpaolo Suriano,José Carlos Machado,José Manuel Lopes,Rui Manuel Reis +10 more
TL;DR: The role of the EGF+61 polymorphism as a susceptibility factor for development of gliomas and its implication on EGF promoter activity is supported.
