Journal ArticleDOI
Performance of Galactomannan, Beta-d-Glucan, Aspergillus Lateral-Flow Device, Conventional Culture, and PCR Tests with Bronchoalveolar Lavage Fluid for Diagnosis of Invasive Pulmonary Aspergillosis
Martin Hoenigl,Juergen Prattes,Bruce D. Spiess,Jasmin Wagner,Florian Prueller,Reinhard B. Raggam,V. Posch,Wiebke Duettmann,K. Hoenigl,Albert Wölfler,Christoph Koidl,Walter Buzina,Mark Reinwald,Christopher R. Thornton,Robert Krause,Dieter Buchheidt +15 more
TL;DR: Established and novel diagnostic methods for IPA are evaluated and it is found that the Aspergillus PCR, LFD, and GM tests were the most useful methods for diagnosing the disease by using BAL fluid samples.
Journal ArticleDOI
Potential Factors for Inadequate Voriconazole Plasma Concentrations in Intensive Care Unit Patients and Patients with Hematological Malignancies
Martin Hoenigl,Wiebke Duettmann,Reinhard B. Raggam,Katharina Seeber,Katharina Troppan,Sonja Fruhwald,Florian Prueller,Jasmin Wagner,Thomas Valentin,Ines Zollner-Schwetz,Albert Wölfler,Robert Krause +11 more
TL;DR: Potential factors like younger age, prophylaxis, underlying hematological malignancy, BMI, and concomitant PPI should be considered within the algorithm of voriconazole treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Galactomannan testing and Aspergillus PCR in same-day bronchoalveolar lavage and blood samples for diagnosis of invasive aspergillosis.
Susanne Eigl,Martin Hoenigl,Birgit Spiess,Sven Heldt,Juergen Prattes,Peter Neumeister,Albert Wölfler,Jasmin Rabensteiner,Florian Prueller,Robert Krause,Mark Reinwald,Holger Flick,Dieter Buchheidt,Tobias Boch +13 more
TL;DR: In conclusion, sensitivities of the evaluated diagnostic tests—when interpreted on their own—were low in BALF and even lower in blood, but sensitivities increased markedly when diagnostic tests were combined.
Journal ArticleDOI
Procalcitonin fails to predict bacteremia in SIRS patients: a cohort study.
Martin Hoenigl,Reinhard B. Raggam,Jasmin Wagner,Florian Prueller,Andrea J. Grisold,Eva Leitner,Katharina Seeber,Juergen Prattes,Thomas Valentin,Ines Zollner-Schwetz,Gernot Schilcher,Robert Krause +11 more
TL;DR: The objective of this study was to evaluate the sensitivity of different PCT cut‐offs for prediction of BSI in patients with community (CA)‐ and hospital‐acquired (HA)‐BSI.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reticulocyte hemoglobin content allows early and reliable detection of functional iron deficiency in blood donors.
M.J. Semmelrock,Reinhard B. Raggam,Karin Amrein,Alexander Avian,Katharina Schallmoser,Gerhard Lanzer,Hans-Jürgen Semmelrock,Florian Prueller,Andrea Berghold,Eva Rohde +9 more
TL;DR: Determination of CHr is feasible to detect FID resulting in IH in frequent blood donors and may help to prevent the development of anemia in frequentBlood donors and also can help to decide whether donor deferral or even iron substitution need to be recommended.
