TL;DR: The ATLAS first level muon trigger was designed to reduce the LHC interaction rate from 1 GHz to 75-100 kHz as discussed by the authors, and the first level trigger was tested at CERN.
Abstract: The ATLAS first level trigger is designed to reduce the LHC interaction rate from 1 GHz to 75–100 kHz. The first level muon trigger in the barrel is described together with test beam results and current commissioning and integration status at CERN.

TL;DR: In this article, the assembly procedure and performance tests of 62 high pressure drift tube chambers, MDT, that equip the inner ring of the Muon Barrel Spectrometer of the ATLAS experiment at the LHC are described.
Abstract: We describe the assembly procedure and the performance tests of 62 high pressure drift tube chambers, MDT, that equip the inner ring of the Muon Barrel Spectrometer of the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. The uniformity of response of the drift tubes and the tracking performance of the chambers were measured with cosmic rays and compared with the results obtained with high momentum muons.

TL;DR: In this article, first measurements of K*(892) mesons production properties and their spin alignment in nu_mu charged current (CC) and neutral current (NC) interactions are presented.
Abstract: First measurements of K*(892) mesons production properties and their spin alignment in nu_mu charged current (CC) and neutral current (NC) interactions are presented. The analysis of the full data sample of the NOMAD experiment is performed in different kinematic regions. For K*+ and K*- mesons produced in nu_mu CC interactions and decaying into K0 pi+/- we have found the following yields per event: (2.6 +/- 0.2 (stat.) +/- 0.2 (syst.))% and (1.6 +/- 0.1 (stat.) +/- 0.1 (syst.))% respectively, while for the K*+ and K*- mesons produced in nu NC interactions the corresponding yields per event are: (2.5 +/- 0.3 (stat.) +/- 0.3 (syst.))% and (1.0 +/- 0.3 (stat.) +/- 0.2 (syst.))%. The results obtained for the rho00 parameter, 0.40 +/- 0.06 (stat) +/- 0.03 (syst) and 0.28 +/- 0.07 (stat) +/- 0.03 (syst) for K*+ and K*- produced in nu_mu CC interactions, are compared to theoretical predictions tuned on LEP measurements in e+e- annihilation at the Z0 pole. For K*+ mesons produced in nu NC interactions the measured rho00 parameter is 0.66 +/- 0.10 (stat) +/- 0.05 (syst).

TL;DR: In order to ensure that the resistive plate chambers used in the ATLAS experiment will not show, during their operation, any abnormal aging effect which could degrade their performances, an aging test is being performed at X5-GIF, CERN's gamma irradiation facility.
Abstract: In order to ensure that the resistive plate chambers used in the ATLAS experiment will not show, during their operation, any abnormal aging effect which could degrade their performances, an aging test is being performed at X5-GIF, CERN's gamma irradiation facility. In this paper, the latest results are presented, together with an example of successful damage recovery technique.

TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of the monitored drift tube (MDT) chambers has been extensively studied with cosmic rays at the Roma Tre test site, and results on chamber calibration and resolution with varying operating conditions, such as gas composition and temperature, have been investigated.
Abstract: Tracking in the muon spectrometer of the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider is based on high pressure drift tubes. The performance of Monitored Drift Tube (MDT) chambers has been extensively studied with cosmic rays at the Roma Tre test site. Results on chamber calibration and resolution with varying operating conditions, such as gas composition and temperature, have been investigated. The improvement of spatial resolution using the measurement of a fraction of the collected charge is also discussed.
