Journal ArticleDOI
Patients with chronic autoimmune thyroiditis are not at higher risk for developing clinically overt thyroid cancer: a 10-year follow-up study.
Mario Rotondi,Gloria Groppelli,Laura Croce,Francesco Latrofa,Giuseppe Ancona,Francesca Coperchini,Daniela Pasquali,Carlo Cappelli,Alessandro Fugazza,Valeria Guazzoni,Giorgio Radetti,Luca Chiovato +11 more
TL;DR: The presence of CAT appears to be associated with a negligible risk of developing clinically overt DTC, and the appearance of new thyroid-nodules was frequent, but none of them were found to be malignant.
Journal ArticleDOI
Statins are not a risk factor for liver damage associated with intravenous glucocorticoid pulse therapy for Graves' orbitopathy
Elena Sabini,Eleonora Sisti,Barbara Coco,Marenza Leo,Ilaria Ionni,Francesca Menconi,Maria Antonietta Profilo,Barbara Mazzi,Roberto Rocchi,Francesco Latrofa,Paolo Vitti,Maurizia Rossana Brunetto,Claudio Marcocci,Michele Marinò +13 more
TL;DR: The lack of observation of cases of ALD in patients given ivGC and statins is quite reassuring and somehow justifies the use of ivGC in patients under statins, although further studies in larger cohorts are needed to confirm the conclusions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Thyroglobulin Changes are Highly Dependent on TSH in Low-risk DTC Patients not Treated with Radioiodine.
Antonio Matrone,Alessio Faranda,Francesco Latrofa,Carla Gambale,Delio Stefani Donati,Eleonora Molinaro,Laura Agate,David Viola,Paolo Piaggi,Liborio Torregrossa,Fulvio Basolo,Rossella Elisei +11 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that in low-risk DTC not treated with 131I, serum Tg remains substantially stable over time and the variations observed were correlated with the concomitant variations of TSH levels, mainly due to the modification of LT-4 therapy performed according to the ongoing risk stratification.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lung Recurrence of Papillary Thyroid Cancer Diagnosed With Antithyroglobulin Antibodies After 10 Years From Initial Treatment.
David Viola,Laura Agate,Eleonora Molinaro,Valeria Bottici,Loredana Lorusso,Francesco Latrofa,Liborio Torregrossa,Laura Boldrini,Teresa Ramone,Paolo Vitti,Rossella Elisei +10 more
TL;DR: This case is peculiar because recurrence was early identified after 10 years from initial treatment for the presence of detectable TgAb in a patient that had an histological diagnosis of lymphocytic thyroiditis but with an atypical clinical presentation.
