Journal ArticleDOI
Outcomes in hypertensive patients at high cardiovascular risk treated with regimens based on valsartan or amlodipine: the VALUE randomised trial
Stevo Julius,Sverre E. Kjeldsen,Michael A. Weber,Hans R. Brunner,Steffan Ekman,Lennart Hansson,Tsushung Hua,John H. Laragh,Gordon T. McInnes,Lada Mitchell,Francis Plat,Anthony Schork,Beverly Smith,Alberto Zanchetti +13 more
TL;DR: Blood pressure was reduced by both treatments, but the effects of the amlodipine-based regimen were more pronounced, especially in the early period, which emphasise the importance of prompt blood-pressure control in hypertensive patients at high cardiovascular risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
Blood pressure dependent and independent effects of antihypertensive treatment on clinical events in the VALUE Trial.
Michael A. Weber,Stevo Julius,Sverre E. Kjeldsen,Hans R. Brunner,Steffan Ekman,Lennart Hansson,Tsushung Hua,John H. Laragh,Gordon T. McInnes,Lada Mitchell,Francis Plat,M. Anthony Schork,Beverly Smith,Alberto Zanchetti +13 more
TL;DR: Reaching blood pressure control by 6 months, independent of drug type, was associated with significant benefits for subsequent major outcomes; the blood pressure response after just 1 month of treatment predicted events and survival.
Journal ArticleDOI
Outcomes in subgroups of hypertensive patients treated with regimens based on valsartan and amlodipine: An analysis of findings from the VALUE trial.
Alberto Zanchetti,Stevo Julius,Sverre E. Kjeldsen,Gordon T. McInnes,Tsushung Hua,Michael A. Weber,John H. Laragh,Francis Plat,Edouard Battegay,C.G. Calvo-Vargas,Andrzej Cieśliński,Jean-Paul Degaute,Nicolaas J. Holwerda,Janna Kobalava,Ole Lederballe Pedersen,Faustinus P. Rudyatmoko,Kostas C. Siamopoulos,Öyvind Störset +17 more
TL;DR: In no subgroup of patients were there differences in the incidence of the composite cardiac outcome with valsartan and amlodipine-based treatments, despite a greater blood pressure decrease in the amlODipine group.

Journal ArticleDOI
First Randomized, Multicenter, Placebo-Controlled Study of Self-Administered Intranasal Etripamil for Acute Conversion of Spontaneous Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia (NODE-301)
Bruce S. Stambler,Francis Plat,Philip T. Sager,Sylvia Shardonofsky,D. Wight,Diane Potvin,A. Shekhar Pandey,James E. Ip,Benoit Coutu,Blandine Mondésert,Laurence D. Sterns,Matthew T. Bennett,Jeffrey L. Anderson,Roger S. Damle,R. J. Haberman,A. John Camm +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the etripamil nasal spray was administered to patients with symptomatic sustained paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT) to terminate atrioventricular nodal-dependent PSVT.
