Journal ArticleDOI

The Role of Macrophages in Acute and Chronic Wound Healing and Interventions to Promote Pro-wound Healing Phenotypes.

TL;DR: The physiology of monocytes and macrophages in acute wound healing and the different phenotypes described in the literature for both in vitro and in vivo models are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mesenchymal Stem Cell-Derived Molecules Reverse Fulminant Hepatic Failure

TL;DR: It is reported that the administration of MSC-derived molecules in two clinically relevant forms-intravenous bolus of conditioned medium or extracorporeal perfusion with a bioreactor containing MSCs-can provide a significant survival benefit in rats undergoing FHF and support the role of chemokines and altered leukocyte migration as a novel therapeutic modality for FHF.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tissue engineering and regenerative medicine: history, progress, and challenges.

TL;DR: This review highlights the modest beginnings of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine and describes three application examples that are in various stages of development, ranging from relatively mature to ongoing proof-of-concept (cartilage) to early stage (liver).
Journal ArticleDOI

Mesenchymal stem cell-derived molecules directly modulate hepatocellular death and regeneration in vitro and in vivo.

TL;DR: These data provide the first clear evidence that MSC‐CM therapy provides trophic support to the injured liver by inhibiting hepatocellular death and stimulating regeneration, potentially creating new avenues for the treatment of FHF.
