Journal ArticleDOI
Development of a framework based on an ecosystem services approach for deriving specific protection goals for environmental risk assessment of pesticides
Karin M. Nienstedt,Theo C.M. Brock,Joke van Wensem,Mark Montforts,Andy Hart,Alf Aagaard,Anne Alix,J.J.T.I. Boesten,Stephanie K. Bopp,Colin D. Brown,Ettore Capri,Valery E. Forbes,Herbert Köpp,Matthias Liess,Robert Luttik,Lorraine Maltby,José Paulo Sousa,Franz Streissl,Anthony Hardy +18 more
TL;DR: The ecosystem services approach was used as an overarching concept for the development of SPG options for 7 key drivers for ecosystem services, covering the ecosystem services that could potentially be affected by the use of pesticides.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk assessment of pesticides and other stressors in bees: Principles, data gaps and perspectives from the European Food Safety Authority
Agnès Rortais,Gérard Arnold,Jean-Lou Dorne,Simon J. More,Giorgio Sperandio,Franz Streissl,Csaba Szentes,Frank Verdonck +7 more
TL;DR: The general principles of pesticide risk assessment in bees are described, including recent developments at EFSA dealing with risk assessment of single and multiple pesticide residues and biological hazards, and collaborative action at the EU level is called for.
Journal ArticleDOI
Growth, morphometrics, size at maturity, sexual dimorphism and condition index of Austropotamobius torrentium Schrank
Franz Streissl,Walter Hödl +1 more
TL;DR: Analyses of the weight–length relationship of A. torrentium revealed that males gained weight faster than females, due to an increased growth of chelae of males larger than 50 mm, which is assumed to be the size of sexual maturity of males.
Journal ArticleDOI
Scientific Opinion on the state of the science on pesticide risk assessment for amphibians and reptiles
Colin Ockleford,Paulien Adriaanse,Philippe Berny,Theodorus Brock,Sabine Duquesne,Sandro Grilli,Antonio F Hernandez-Jerez,Susanne Hougaard Bennekou,Michael Klein,Thomas Kuhl,Ryszard Laskowski,Kyriaki Machera,Olavi Pelkonen,Silvia Pieper,Michael Stemmer,Ingvar Sundh,Ivana Teodorovic,Aaldrik Tiktak,Christopher J. Topping,Gerrit Wolterink,Annette Aldrich,Cecilia Berg,Manuel E. Ortiz-Santaliestra,Scott M. Weir,Franz Streissl,Robert H. Smith +25 more
TL;DR: The Panel on Plant Protection Products and their Residues developed an opinion on the science to support the potential development of a risk assessment scheme of plant protection products for amphibians and reptiles.
Journal ArticleDOI
Habitat and shelter requirements of the stone crayfish, Austropotamobius torrentium schrank
Franz Streissl,Walter Hödl +1 more
TL;DR: The attractiveness of shelters and the relationship between crayfish size and refuge size were investigated in the stone cray fish Austropotamobius torrentium and shelter suitability was mainly determined by water velocity, stone surface area and stone width.
