Core Loss during a Severe Accident (COLOSS).

TL;DR: In this paper, a parallel effort is devoted to model developments for severe accident (SA) computer codes, and these codes are finally used for plant calculations to assess SA code capabilities and to apply results produced in this project to evaluate their consequences on key SA sequences occurring in different plants such as PWR-1300, BWR, VVER-1000, EPR and in the TMI-2 accident.
Journal ArticleDOI

The EPR overall approach for severe accident mitigation

TL;DR: The EPR design includes provisions to cope with severe accidents including core melt situations: - Situations that would lead to large early releases such as containment bypass, high reactivity accidents, high pressure core melt or global hydrogen detonation have to be prevented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Corium Spreading and Coolability (CSC Project)

TL;DR: In this article, the CSC project focused on two key phenomena for external core-catchers efficiency, reliability and safety: spreading and coolability, and provided a lot of results which now constitute a large database and which enabled the qualification of computer codes.
