Journal ArticleDOI
Mitochondrial function, blastocyst development and live foals born after ICSI of immature vitrified/warmed equine oocytes matured with or without melatonin.
G. Clérico,G. Taminelli,J. C. Veronesi,J. Polola,N. Pagura,Carlos R. F. Pinto,M. Sansinena,M. Sansinena,M. Sansinena +8 more
TL;DR: It is shown for the first time that in the horse, as in other species, intracellular reactive oxygen species are increased by the process of vitrification and melatonin was useful in reducing mitochondrial-related ROS and improving ICSI embryo development, although the lower pregnancy rate in presence of melatonin should be further analyzed in future studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ovum pick-up interval in buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) managed under wetland conditions in Argentina: Effect on follicular population, oocyte recovery, and in vitro embryo development.
José Luis Konrad,G. Clérico,M. J. Garrido,G. Taminelli,M. Yuponi,R. Yuponi,G. Crudeli,M. Sansinena,M. Sansinena +8 more
TL;DR: This study indicates it is possible to use a 14-day interval for oocyte collection in water buffalo; this approach could be considered as an alternative when access to animals is restricted.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vitrification of Immature Oocytes for the Production of Equine Embryos by ICSI: Protocol Effect on Maturation, Embryo Development, Mitochondrial Distribution and Functionality
G. Clérico,M.B. Rodriguez,G. Taminelli,A. Butteri,J. C. Veronesi,S. Fernández,Daniel Felipe Salamone,M. Sansinena +7 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Time of first polar body extrusion affects the developmental competence of equine oocytes after intracytoplasmic sperm injection.
M.B. Rodriguez,A. Gambini,G. Clérico,Amada Eugenia Ynsaurralde-Rivolta,O. Briski,Hernan Largel,M. Sansinena,Daniel Felipe Salamone,Daniel Felipe Salamone +8 more
TL;DR: The maturation dynamics of equine oocytes at different time points, from 20 to 40h (Experiment 1), and equine ICSI blastocysts were produced from oocytes that exhibited early or late extrusion of the first polar body (PB), showing an improvement in total cell number and blastocyst rate.
Journal ArticleDOI
First report of DNA detection and sex determination in leaked fluid after needle collapse of large equine blastocysts
TL;DR: In this article , a new method for sex determination using leakage from manual collapse prior to vitrification was investigated, a technique which previously resulted in a pregnancy in our laboratory (1 of 3, unpublished results) and hypothesized that leaked blastocele fluid into the surrounding medium could provide sufficient DNA for amplification and sex determination.
