Journal ArticleDOI

Hepatic cholesterol metabolism in patients with gallstones.

TL;DR: The findings suggest that the pathogenesis of gallstones is related to both increased cholesterol synthesis and decreased bile acid formation, whereas cholesterol accumulates in biliary obstruction because of defective removal since cholesterol production is low.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chenodeoxycholic acid inhibits increased cholesterol and cholestanol synthesis in patients with cerebrotendinous Xanthomatosis

TL;DR: The data indicate that CDCA suppressed elevated cholesterol and cholestanol synthesis in CTX, and suggest that this primary bile acid may be useful in preventing the clinical progression of this disease.
