Journal ArticleDOI

Crystal structure of binary and ternary complexes of serine hydroxymethyltransferase from Bacillus stearothermophilus: insights into the catalytic mechanism.

TL;DR: In this paper, the first structure of the serine-bound form of SHMT has been presented, which allows identification of residues involved in serine binding and catalysis and provides evidence for a direct displacement mechanism for the hydroxymethyl transfer rather than a retroaldol cleavage.
Journal ArticleDOI

Plant aspartate transcarbamylase: An affinity chromatographic method for the purification of the enzyme from germinated seedlings

TL;DR: This method was extended to the purification of aspartate transcarbamylase from Lathyrus sativus, Eleucine coracona, and Trigonella foenum graecum, and showed positive homotropic interactions with carbamyl phosphate and negative heterotropic interaction with UMP.
Journal ArticleDOI

N-Carbamoyl-dl-aspartic acid

TL;DR: In this paper, the sterically least favorable conformation with the side chain carboxyl group staggered between the a-carboxyl groups and the ureido group was assumed.
