Journal ArticleDOI
AtTIP1;3 and AtTIP5;1, the only highly expressed Arabidopsis pollen-specific aquaporins, transport water and urea.
Gabriela Soto,Karina Alleva,Maria Agustina Mazzella,Gabriela Amodeo,Jorge P Muschietti,Jorge P Muschietti +5 more
TL;DR: A function for AtTTIP1;3 and AtTIP5;1 as specific water and urea channels in Arabidopsis pollen is suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI
Major cereal crops benefit from biological nitrogen fixation when inoculated with the nitrogen-fixing bacterium Pseudomonas protegens Pf-5 X940.
Ana Romina Fox,Gabriela Soto,Gabriela Soto,Claudio Valverde,Claudio Valverde,Daniela Russo,Daniela Russo,Antonio Lagares,Antonio Lagares,Angeles Zorreguieta,Angeles Zorreguieta,Karina Alleva,Cecilia Gabriela Pascuan,Cecilia Gabriela Pascuan,Romina Frare,Romina Frare,Jesús Mercado-Blanco,Ray Dixon,Nicolás Daniel Ayub,Nicolás Daniel Ayub +19 more
TL;DR: Genetic analysis using biofilm formation-related Pseudomonas mutants confirmed the relevance of bacterial root adhesion in the increase in nitrogen content, biomass accumulation and nitrogen fixation rates in wheat roots, the first report of robust BNF in major cereal crops.
Journal ArticleDOI
TIP5;1 is an aquaporin specifically targeted to pollen mitochondria and is probably involved in nitrogen remobilization in Arabidopsis thaliana
Gabriela Soto,Romina Fox,Nicolás Daniel Ayub,Karina Alleva,Francisco F. Guaimas,Elizabeth Jares Erijman,Agustina Mazzella,Gabriela Amodeo,Jorge P Muschietti,Jorge P Muschietti +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that TIP5;1 has unusual characteristics, as its water transport activity is regulated by pH, suggesting that a conserved motif is involved in pH sensing.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acetoacetyl-CoA thiolase regulates the mevalonate pathway during abiotic stress adaptation
Gabriela Soto,Margarita Stritzler,Christian Lisi,Karina Alleva,Karina Alleva,María Elba Pagano,Fernando Ardila,Matteo Mozzicafreddo,Massimiliano Cuccioloni,Mauro Angeletti,Nicolás Daniel Ayub,Nicolás Daniel Ayub +11 more
TL;DR: Alfalfa's MsAACT1 over-expressing transgenic plants showed salinity tolerance comparable with empty vector transformed plants and enhanced production of squalene without altering the 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMGR) activity in salt-stress conditions, suggesting acetoacetyl- CoA thiolase is a regulatory enzyme in isoprenoid biosynthesis involved in abiotic stress adaptation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Engineering Pseudomonas protegens Pf-5 for nitrogen fixation and its application to improve plant growth under nitrogen-deficient conditions.
Lorena María Setten,Gabriela Soto,Gabriela Soto,Matteo Mozzicafreddo,Ana Romina Fox,Christian Lisi,Massimiliano Cuccioloni,Mauro Angeletti,Elba Pagano,Antonio Díaz-Paleo,Nicolás Daniel Ayub,Nicolás Daniel Ayub +11 more
TL;DR: Interestingly, inoculation of Arabidopsis, alfalfa, tall fescue and maize with Pf-5 X940 increased the ammonium concentration in soil and plant productivity under nitrogen-deficient conditions.
