Mammalian Chk2 is a downstream effector of the ATM-dependent DNA damage checkpoint pathway

TL;DR: Results suggest that Chk2 is a downstream effector of the ATM-dependent DNA damage checkpoint pathway and might not only delay mitotic entry, but also increase the capacity of cultured cells to survive after treatment with γ-radiation or with the topoisomerase-I inhibitor topotecan.
Journal ArticleDOI

INTERLEUKIN-1F7B (IL-1H4/IL-1F7) IS PROCESSED BY CASPASE-1 AND MATURE IL-1F7B BINDS TO THE IL-18 RECEPTOR BUT DOES NOT INDUCE IFN-γ PRODUCTION

TL;DR: It is reported that caspase-1 cleaves IL-1F7b at the predicted site to generate mature IL-3H1-4 and the expression of IL- 1F7B protein in discrete cell populations including plasma cells and tumor cells suggests that IL-2F8b may be involved in immune response, inflammatory diseases and/or cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI

The human polo-like kinase, PLK, regulates cdc2/cyclin B through phosphorylation and activation of the cdc25C phosphatase.

TL;DR: It is shown for the first time that endogenous human PLK protein immunoprecipitated from the G2/M-arrested Jurkat cells directly phosphorylates human cdc25C, and it is demonstrated that recombinant human (rh) PLK also phosphoryLates rhcdc25C in a time- and concentration-dependent manner.
