Mammalian Chk2 is a downstream effector of the ATM-dependent DNA damage checkpoint pathway
Priya Chaturvedi,Wai K Eng,Yuan Zhu,Michael R. Mattern,Rubin Mishra,Mark R. Hurle,Xiaolong Zhang,Roland S. Annan,Quinn Lu,Leo F. Faucette,Gilbert F. Scott,Xiaotong Li,Steven A. Carr,Randall K. Johnson,James D. Winkler,Bin-Bing S. Zhou +15 more
TL;DR: Results suggest that Chk2 is a downstream effector of the ATM-dependent DNA damage checkpoint pathway and might not only delay mitotic entry, but also increase the capacity of cultured cells to survive after treatment with γ-radiation or with the topoisomerase-I inhibitor topotecan.
Journal ArticleDOI
INTERLEUKIN-1F7B (IL-1H4/IL-1F7) IS PROCESSED BY CASPASE-1 AND MATURE IL-1F7B BINDS TO THE IL-18 RECEPTOR BUT DOES NOT INDUCE IFN-γ PRODUCTION
Sanjay Kumar,Charles Hanning,Michael Brigham-Burke,David J. Rieman,Ruth Lehr,Sanjay S. Khandekar,Robert B. Kirkpatrick,Gilbert F. Scott,John C. Lee,Frank J. Lynch,Wentao Gao,Andrea Gambotto,Michael T. Lotze +12 more
TL;DR: It is reported that caspase-1 cleaves IL-1F7b at the predicted site to generate mature IL-3H1-4 and the expression of IL- 1F7B protein in discrete cell populations including plasma cells and tumor cells suggests that IL-2F8b may be involved in immune response, inflammatory diseases and/or cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
The human polo-like kinase, PLK, regulates cdc2/cyclin B through phosphorylation and activation of the cdc25C phosphatase.
Amy K. Roshak,Elizabeth A. Capper,Christina S. Imburgia,James Fornwald,Gilbert F. Scott,Lisa A. Marshall +5 more
TL;DR: It is shown for the first time that endogenous human PLK protein immunoprecipitated from the G2/M-arrested Jurkat cells directly phosphorylates human cdc25C, and it is demonstrated that recombinant human (rh) PLK also phosphoryLates rhcdc25C in a time- and concentration-dependent manner.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quinoline 3-sulfonamides inhibit lactate dehydrogenase A and reverse aerobic glycolysis in cancer cells
Julia Billiard,Jennifer B. Dennison,Jacques Briand,Roland S. Annan,Deping Chai,Mariela Colón,Christopher S Dodson,Seth A. Gilbert,Joel Greshock,Junping Jing,Hong Lu,Jeanelle McSurdy-Freed,Lisa A. Orband-Miller,Gordon B. Mills,Chad Quinn,Jessica L. Schneck,Gilbert F. Scott,Shaw Antony N,Gregory M. Waitt,Richard Wooster,Kevin J. Duffy +20 more
TL;DR: Rapid chemical inhibition of LDHA by these quinoline 3-sulfonamids led to profound metabolic alterations and impaired cell survival in carcinoma cells making it a compelling strategy for treating solid tumors that rely on aerobic glycolysis for survival.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cloning and functional characterization of a novel human CC chemokine that binds to the CCR3 receptor and activates human eosinophils.
John R. White,Christina S. Imburgia,Edward Dul,Appelbaum Edward Robert,Kevin O'Donnell,Daniel J. O'Shannessy,Mary Ellen Brawner,Jim A. Fornwald,John E. Adamou,Nabil Elshourbagy,Kate Kaiser,James J. Foley,Dulcie B. Schmidt,Kyung O. Johanson,Colin H. Macphee,Kitty Moores,Dean E. McNulty,Gilbert F. Scott,Robert P. Schleimer,Henry M. Sarau +19 more
TL;DR: The data indicate that eotaxin‐2 is a potent eosinophil chemotactic chemokine exerting its activity solely through the CCR3 receptor.
