Journal ArticleDOI
Cognitive impairment in major depression.
TL;DR: Depressed patients also show impairments of executive functions and their recent exploration through brain imaging techniques has recently permitted to formulate some general hypotheses on the possible involvement of different brain areas in MD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Plasma and serum brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in depressed patients during 1 year of antidepressant treatments.
Armando Piccinni,Donatella Marazziti,M. Catena,Luciano Domenici,Alessandro Del Debbio,Carolina Bianchi,Claudio Mannari,Claudia Martini,Eleonora Da Pozzo,Elisa Schiavi,A. Mariotti,Isabella Roncaglia,A. Palla,Giorgio Consoli,Luca Giovannini,Luca Giovannini,Gabriele Massimetti,Liliana Dell'Osso +17 more
TL;DR: Untreated depressed patients showed reduced baseline serum and plasma BDNF levels, as compared with control subjects, which would suggest that serum BDNF might represent a non-specific trait marker of depression.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inflammatory and neurodegenerative pathways in depression: a new avenue for antidepressant development?
Mario Catena-Dell'Osso,Cesario Bellantuono,Giorgio Consoli,Stefano Baroni,Francesco Rotella,Donatella Marazziti +5 more
TL;DR: The molecular inflammatory and neurodegenerative pathways might provide new targets for antidepressant development and might be crucial to establish a rational treatment of depression aimed, hopefully, to its causal factors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association between thyroid autoimmunity and fibromyalgic disease severity.
Laura Bazzichi,Alessandra Rossi,T. Giuliano,Francesca De Feo,Camillo Giacomelli,Arianna Consensi,Antonio Ciapparelli,Giorgio Consoli,Liliana Dell'Osso,Stefano Bombardieri +9 more
TL;DR: Investigating thyroid abnormalities and autoimmunity in 120 patients affected by fibromyalgia found autoimmune thyroiditis is present in an elevated percentage of FM patients, and it has been associated with the presence of typical symptoms of the disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Executive function abnormalities in pathological gamblers.
Donatella Marazziti,Mario Catena Dell'Osso,Ciro Conversano,Giorgio Consoli,L. Vivarelli,Francesco Mungai,Elena Di Nasso,Francesca Golia +7 more
TL;DR: The findings showed that patients affected by PG, in spite of normal intellectual, linguistic and visual-spatial abilities, had abnormalities emerging from the WCST, in particular they could not learn from their mistakes and look for alternative solutions.
