Journal ArticleDOI

Protective effects of taurine on protamine sulfate induced bladder damage.

TL;DR: Taurine treatment significantly prevented PS induced degenerative morphological and biochemical changes of urinary bladder mucosa, and it is proposed that free radicals may have a critical role in this injury.
Journal ArticleDOI

Protective effect of cysteinyl leukotriene receptor antagonist montelukast in bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis.

TL;DR: Montelukast attenuates bleomycin-induced inflammatory and oxidative lung injury and prevents lung collagen deposition and fibrotic response and might be regarded as new therapeutic agents for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Garlic Extract Ameliorates Renal and Cardiopulmonary Injury in the Rats with Chronic Renal Failure

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the possible protective and antioxidant effects of aqueous garlic extract (AGE) in a rat model of chronic renal failure (CRF) and found that AGE treatment alleviated CRF-induced oxidative changes in the injured tissues, while CRFinduced elevations in the blood levels of the pro-inflammatory cytokines and LDH were reduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

Myrtus communis leaf extract protects against cerulein-induced acute pancreatitis in rats

TL;DR: This research is the first report showing that Myrtus communis communis leaf ethanol extract inhibits the development of acute pancreatitis, and suggests that MC may be useful in the prevention and the treatment of AP in clinical settings.
Journal ArticleDOI

Protective Effects of Aqueous Garlic Extract in Reducing Water Avoidance Stress-Induced Degeneration of the Stomach, Ileum, and Liver: Morphological and Biochemical Study

TL;DR: AGE treatment significantly prevented WAS-induced degeneration in both morphology and biochemistry of gastrointestinal mucosa and liver parenchyma due to its potent free radical scavenging and antioxidant properties.
