Tutorial on DNA Computing and Graph Transformation - Computational Nature of Gene Assembly in Ciliates

TL;DR: DNA computing, or more generally molecular computing, is a novel exciting area of research at the intersection of mathematics, computer science and molecular biology that assists computer scientists in their attempt to replace or to complement the silicon-based computers by DNA- based computers.
Book ChapterDOI

Introduction to Formal Language Theory

TL;DR: The mathematical theory of DNA computing presented in Part II of this book is developed in the framework of formal language theory as a natural framework for formalizing and investigating DNA computing.
Journal ArticleDOI

New squeezing mechanisms for L systems

TL;DR: It turns out that if the underlying L structure is strong enough (such as a TOL structure), then all of these definitional mechanisms are of equal power, whereas uncomparability and strict inclusion results are obtained for weaker underlying L structures.
