Thermal runaway caused fire and explosion of lithium ion battery

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of the lithium ion battery hazards, thermal runaway theory, basic reactions, thermal models, simulations and experimental works is presented, and the related prevention techniques are summarized and discussed on the inherent safety methods and safety device methods.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thermal Runaway Caused Fire and Explosion of Lithium Ion Battery

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of the lithium ion battery hazards, thermal runaway theory, basic reactions, thermal models, simulations and experimental works is presented, and the related prevention techniques are summarized and discussed on the inherent safety methods and safety device methods.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lithium Ion Battery Fire and Explosion

TL;DR: In this paper, the combustion triangle contributions of lithium ion battery were analyzed based on combustion triangle theory, and the thermal behavior studies on the materials showed that the flammable electrolyte, oxygen generated by charged cathode and anode decomposition, and exothermic reaction heats formed the combustion triangles together.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of solvents and salt on the thermal stability of charged LiCoO2

TL;DR: In this paper, the thermal stability of Li{sub 0.5}CoO{sub 2} batteries in the presence of solvents/electrolyte and LiPF{sub 6} salt were studied by using C80 micro-calorimeter.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of LiPF6 on the thermal behaviors of four organic solvents for lithium ion batteries

TL;DR: In this article, the thermal behavior of four organic solvents with/without LiPF6 were measured by C80 microcalorimeter at a 0.2°C min−1 heating rate.
