Semiconducting and passive film properties of nitrogen-containing type 316LN stainless steels

TL;DR: In this article, the nitrogen effect on the chemical composition of the passive films was investigated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, (XPS) based on capacitance results, the semiconducting parameters obtained from the Mott-Schottky plots indicated a decrease in the donor and acceptor density (ND and NA) with increase in nitrogen content, and variation in the flat band potential (EFB), depending on the electrolytic media.

Corrosion of austenitic stainless steels : mechanism, mitigation and monitoring

H. S. Khatak, +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a detailed introduction to the life prediction approach of fracture mechanics in stress corrosion cracking and Microbiologically influenced corrosion of austenitic stainless steel in liquid sodium.
Journal ArticleDOI

On the pitting corrosion resistance of nitrogen alloyed cold worked austenitic stainless steels

TL;DR: Pitting corrosion studies were carried out on cold worked (5, 10, 15, 20, 30, and 40%) nitrogen-bearing (0.05, 0.1% and 0.22% N) type 316L stainless steels in neutral chloride medium as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Use of eddy current testing method in detection and evaluation of sensitisation and intergranular corrosion in austenitic stainless steels

TL;DR: In this paper, the applicability of eddy current testing (ECT) technique to assess and quantify sensitisation and intergranular corrosion (IGC) in thermally aged AISI type 316 stainless steel was discussed.
