Semiconducting and passive film properties of nitrogen-containing type 316LN stainless steels

TL;DR: In this article, the nitrogen effect on the chemical composition of the passive films was investigated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, (XPS) based on capacitance results, the semiconducting parameters obtained from the Mott-Schottky plots indicated a decrease in the donor and acceptor density (ND and NA) with increase in nitrogen content, and variation in the flat band potential (EFB), depending on the electrolytic media.
Journal ArticleDOI

On the pitting corrosion resistance of nitrogen alloyed cold worked austenitic stainless steels

TL;DR: Pitting corrosion studies were carried out on cold worked (5, 10, 15, 20, 30, and 40%) nitrogen-bearing (0.05, 0.1% and 0.22% N) type 316L stainless steels in neutral chloride medium as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of Si and Sb additions on the corrosion behavior of AZ91 magnesium alloy

TL;DR: In this paper, a small amount of silicon and antimony additions (individual and combined) have been carried out on AZ91 alloy and its effect on electrochemical corrosion behavior is investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Corrosion behaviour of AISI type 304L stainless steel in nitric acid media containing oxidizing species

TL;DR: In this paper, the corrosion behavior of AISI type 304L stainless steel (SS) in different concentration of 0.01 m, 1 m and 5 m HNO 3 in presence of oxidizing ions at different temperatures has been evaluated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Corrosion assessment of nitric acid grade austenitic stainless steels

TL;DR: In this paper, the corrosion resistance of three indigenous nitric acid grade (NAG) type 304L stainless steel (SS), designated as 304L1, 304L2 and 304L3 and two commercial NAG SS designated as Uranus-16 similar to 304L composition and Uranus 65 similar to type 310L SS were performed to evaluate the corrosion resilience and passive film property in 6 N and 11.5 N HNO3 media.
