Anti-inflammatory effects of glycyrol isolated from Glycyrrhiza uralensis in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 macrophages
Eun Myoung Shin,Hong Yu Zhou,Hong Yu Zhou,Lian Yu Guo,Jeong Ah Kim,Seung Ho Lee,Irmgard Merfort,Sam Sik Kang,Hak Sung Kim,Sanghee Kim,Yeong Shik Kim +10 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that glycyrol is an important anti-inflammatory constituent of Glycyrrhizae Radix, and that its anti- inflammatory effect is attributed to the inhibition I-kappaBalpha phosphorylation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Curcumin induces pro-apoptotic endoplasmic reticulum stress in human leukemia HL-60 cells.
Hyun-Ock Pae,Sun-Oh Jeong,Gil-Saeng Jeong,Ki Mo Kim,Hak Sung Kim,Soon-Ai Kim,Youn-Chul Kim,Kang Ss,Byeong-Nam Kim,Hun-Taeg Chung +9 more
TL;DR: The present study shows that curcumin-induced apoptosis is associated with its ability to cause ER stress.
Journal ArticleDOI
Smartphone-Based Fluorescent Diagnostic System for Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Viruses
Seon-Ju Yeo,Kyunghan Choi,Bui Thi Cuc,Nguyen Ngoc Hong,Duong Tuan Bao,Nguyen Minh Ngoc,Mai Quynh Le,Nguyen Le Khanh Hang,Nguyen Co Thach,Shyam Kumar Mallik,Hak Sung Kim,Chom-Kyu Chong,Hak Soo Choi,Haan Woo Sung,Kyoungsik Yu,Hyun Park +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a smartphone-based fluorescent diagnostic device with an efficient reflective light collection module using a coumarin-derived dendrimer based fluorescent lateral flow immunoassay was used to detect avian influenza.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dimethoxycurcumin, a Synthetic Curcumin Analogue, Induces Heme Oxygenase-1 Expression through Nrf2 Activation in RAW264.7 Macrophages.
Sun-Oh Jeong,Gi Su Oh,Hun-Yong Ha,Bon Soon Koo,Hak Sung Kim,Youn-Chul Kim,Eun-Cheol Kim,Kang-Min Lee,Hun-Taeg Chung,Hyun-Ock Pae +9 more
TL;DR: Dimethoxycurcumin and curcumin induced HO-1 expression and Nrf2 nuclear translocation, suggesting that the unsaturated nature of the diarylheptanoid chain of the compounds are crucial for HO- 1 expression andNrf2 activation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dimethoxycurcumin, a synthetic curcumin analogue with higher metabolic stability, inhibits NO production, inducible NO synthase expression and NF-kappaB activation in RAW264.7 macrophages activated with LPS.
Hyun-Ock Pae,Sun-Oh Jeong,Hak Sung Kim,Seong Heak Kim,Yung Sun Song,Sung-kwun Kim,Kyu-Yun Chai,Hun-Taeg Chung +7 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that DiMC inhibits NO production, iNOS expression and NF-kappaB activation in LPS-activated macrophages, which may be due not only to the conjugated double bonds but also the increased number of methoxy groups.
