The association of air pollution and depressed mood in 70,928 individuals from four European cohorts
Wilma L. Zijlema,Kathrin Wolf,Rebecca T. Emeny,K.H. Ladwig,Annette Peters,Håvard Wahl Kongsgård,Kristian Hveem,Kirsti Kvaløy,Tarja Yli-Tuomi,T. TL;DR: The authors' analyses of four European general population cohorts found no consistent evidence for an association between ambient air pollution and depressed mood.
Journal ArticleDOI
Road traffic noise, blood pressure and heart rate: Pooled analyses of harmonized data from 88,336 participants.
Wilma L. Zijlema,Wilma L. Zijlema,Yutong Cai,Dany Doiron,Dany Doiron,Dany Doiron,Stéphane Mbatchou,Isabel Fortier,John S. Key,Håvard Wahl Kongsgård,Kristian Hveem,Amadou Gaye,Paul Burton,Anna Hansell,Anna Hansell,Ronald P. Stolk,Judith G. M. Rosmalen +23 more
TL;DR: The study suggests that road traffic noise may be related to increased heart rate, and no consistent evidence for a relation between noise and blood pressure was found.
Journal ArticleDOI
Estimation of TETRA radio use in the Airwave Health Monitoring Study of the British police forces.
Anne-Claire Vergnaud,Maria Aresu,Håvard Wahl Kongsgård,Dennis McRobie,Deepa Singh,Jeanette Spear,Andy Heard,He Gao,James R. Carpenter,Paul Elliott +9 more
TL;DR: The availability of objective personal radio records for a large proportion of users allowed a robust imputation model to be developed and hence personal radio usage estimates for ˜50,000 participants are obtained and will allow for analyses of TETRA usage for the entire cohort in future work.
Journal ArticleDOI
Personal radio use and cancer risks among 48,518 British police officers and staff from the Airwave Health Monitoring Study.
He Gao,Maria Aresu,Anne-Claire Vergnaud,Dennis McRobie,Jeanette Spear,Andy Heard,Håvard Wahl Kongsgård,Deepa Singh,David C. Muller,Paul Elliott +9 more
TL;DR: There was no evidence of association of personal radio use with cancer risk among police officers and staff of the Airwave Health Monitoring Study in Great Britain, and continued follow-up of the cohort is warranted.
Journal ArticleDOI
SMS Phone Surveys and Mass-Messaging: Promises and Pitfalls
TL;DR: It is argued that the best approach is to keep everything simple, invite a great number of respondents and know when to give up, given the nature of mass-messaging, selection bias and data quality is a major concern.
