Journal ArticleDOI

The evolution of allelic diversity at the primate major histocompatibility complex class II loci.

TL;DR: The highest number of phylogenetically inferred changes attributed to balancing selection was found at beta-chain residues located in the ABS and at those residues implicated in disease susceptibility, which supports the view that these positions are subject to some form of balancing selection.
Journal ArticleDOI

Shared molecular markers of genetic predisposition to seropositive rheumatoid arthritis.

TL;DR: Results suggest that this hypervariable region of the DR beta 1 chain gene might be an important contribution to a restriction site for the putative causative agent(s) in rheumatoid arthritis.
Journal ArticleDOI

DRB1*LY10--a new DRB1 allele and its haplotypic association.

TL;DR: The sequence of a new DRB1 allele, DRBI*LYIO, and its haplotypic association is reported, which was made during an HLA analysis of a patient with lyme arthritis and revealed a new hybridization pattern which suggested that the individual carried theDRB1*0402 (DR4DwlO) allele on one chromosome and a new allele on the other chromosome.
Book ChapterDOI

Analysis of Isotypic and Allotypic Sequence Variation in the HLA-DRβ Region Using the In Vitro Enzymatic Amplification of Specific DNA Segments

TL;DR: A previously unreported sequence, termed DRβX, is described and helps define one of the three major evolutionary groups of DR haplotypes.
