Journal ArticleDOI
Common Variants in CDKN2B-AS1 Associated with Optic-Nerve Vulnerability of Glaucoma Identified by Genome-Wide Association Studies in Japanese
Masakazu Nakano,Yoko Ikeda,Yuichi Tokuda,Masahiro Fuwa,Masahiro Fuwa,Natsue Omi,Morio Ueno,Kojiro Imai,Hiroko Adachi,Masaaki Kageyama,Kazuhiko Mori,Shigeru Kinoshita,Kei Tashiro +12 more
TL;DR: POAG-associated variants in the CDKN2B-AS1 locus are identified using a Japanese population and could be associated specifically with the vulnerability of the optic nerve to IOP, which is useful for investigating the etiology of glaucoma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Trinucleotide Repeat Expansion in the TCF4 Gene in Fuchs' Endothelial Corneal Dystrophy in Japanese.
Masakazu Nakano,Naoki Okumura,Naoki Okumura,Hiroko Nakagawa,Noriko Koizumi,Yoko Ikeda,Morio Ueno,Kengo Yoshii,Hiroko Adachi,Ross A. Aleff,Malinda L. Butz,W. Edward Highsmith,Kei Tashiro,Eric D. Wieben,Shigeru Kinoshita,Keith H. Baratz +15 more
TL;DR: These findings show for the first time in a Japanese population the association of the TNR expansion in TCF4 with FECD, and a CTG expansion is present in a minority of Japanese subjects, indicating other genetic variants as common causes of phenotypically identical disease in this population.
Journal ArticleDOI
Novel common variants and susceptible haplotype for exfoliation glaucoma specific to Asian population
Masakazu Nakano,Yoko Ikeda,Yuichi Tokuda,Masahiro Fuwa,Morio Ueno,Kojiro Imai,Ryuichi Sato,Natsue Omi,Hiroko Adachi,Masaaki Kageyama,Kazuhiko Mori,Shigeru Kinoshita,Kei Tashiro +12 more
TL;DR: The results suggested that the combination of newly discovered variants in these genes might be useful for precise XFG risk assessment, as well as for elucidating the molecular mechanism of XFG pathogenesis through XFS.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stage-specific reference genes significant for quantitative PCR during mouse retinal development.
Hiroko Adachi,Hiroyuki Tominaga,Yuko Maruyama,Kazuhito Yoneda,Kazuichi Maruyama,Kengo Yoshii,Shigeru Kinoshita,Masakazu Nakano,Kei Tashiro +8 more
TL;DR: According to the results of in silico prediction and comparison with a database of SAGE, it was found that the most stable gene from early to late stages was Sdha, whereas one of the most popular housekeeping genes, Actb, was the one that could mislead the quantitative results even in the adult stage.
Journal ArticleDOI
C/EBPβ is a critical mediator of IFN-α-induced exhaustion of chronic myeloid leukemia stem cells.
Asumi Yokota,Asumi Yokota,Hideyo Hirai,Ryuichi Sato,Hiroko Adachi,Fumiko Sato,Yoshihiro Hayashi,Yoshihiro Hayashi,Atsushi Sato,Naoka Kamio,Yasuo Miura,Masakazu Nakano,Daniel G. Tenen,Daniel G. Tenen,Shinya Kimura,Kei Tashiro,Taira Maekawa +16 more
TL;DR: C/EBPβ is a critical mediator of IFN-α-induced differentiation and exhaustion of CML stem cells, both in vitro and in vivo, in a C/E BPβ-dependent manner.
