Journal ArticleDOI
Prostaglandin D2 as a Mediator of Allergic Asthma
Toshiyuki Matsuoka,Masakazu Hirata,Hiroyuki Tanaka,Yoshimasa Takahashi,Takahiko Murata,Kenji Kabashima,Yukihiko Sugimoto,Takuya Kobayashi,Fumitaka Ushikubi,Yoshiya Aze,Naomi Eguchi,Yoshihiro Urade,Nobuaki Yoshida,Kazushi Kimura,Akira Mizoguchi,Yoshihito Honda,Hiroichi Nagai,Shuh Narumiya +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, the role of prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) in allergic asthma was investigated by the generation of mice deficient in the PGD receptor (DP).
Journal ArticleDOI
Periostin: A novel component of subepithelial fibrosis of bronchial asthma downstream of IL-4 and IL-13 signals
Go Takayama,Kazuhiko Arima,Taisuke Kanaji,Shuji Toda,Hiroyuki Tanaka,Shunsuke Shoji,Andrew N. J. McKenzie,Hiroichi Nagai,Takao Hotokebuchi,Kenji Izuhara +9 more
TL;DR: Periostin induced by IL-4/IL-13 shows promise in inhibiting subepithelial fibrosis in bronchial asthma and may contribute to this process by binding to other extracellular matrix proteins.
Journal ArticleDOI
Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), but not TLR3 or TLR9, knock-out mice have neuroprotective effects against focal cerebral ischemia
Kana Hyakkoku,Junya Hamanaka,Kazuhiro Tsuruma,Masamitsu Shimazawa,Hiroyuki Tanaka,Satoshi Uematsu,Shizuo Akira,Naoki Inagaki,Hiroichi Nagai,Hideaki Hara +9 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that TLR4 knockout, but not TLR3 or TLR9 knockout, may play a neuroprotective role in ischemic brain injury induced by MCAO in mice.
Journal ArticleDOI
Suppression of allergic inflammation by the prostaglandin E receptor subtype EP3
Tomonori Kunikata,Hana Yamane,Eri Segi,Toshiyuki Matsuoka,Yukihiko Sugimoto,Satoshi Tanaka,Hiroyuki Tanaka,Hiroichi Nagai,Atsushi Ichikawa,Shuh Narumiya +9 more
TL;DR: Mice lacking EP3 developed allergic inflammation that was much more pronounced than that in wild-type mice or mice deficient in other prostaglandin E receptor subtypes and an EP3-selective agonist suppressed the inflammation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intraalveolar Expression of Tumor Necrosis Factor- α Gene during Conventional and High-Frequency Ventilation
Masao Takata,Jun Abe,Hiroyuki Tanaka,Yoshihiro Kitano,Shouzaburoh Doi,Takao Kohsaka,Katsuyuki Miyasaka +6 more
TL;DR: Conventional mechanical ventilation resulted in a progressive hypoxemia, decreased lung compliance, increased number of neutrophils in lung lavage fluid, and substantial morphological changes including hyaline membrane formation and neutrophil accumulation, whereas HFO was associated with minimal changes in such physiological and pathological abnormalities.
