Journal ArticleDOI
Cardiovascular Risk Reduction in High-Risk Pediatric Patients: A Scientific Statement From the American Heart Association.
Sarah D. de Ferranti,Julia Steinberger,Rebecca K. Ameduri,Annette L. Baker,Holly C. Gooding,Aaron S. Kelly,Michele Mietus-Snyder,Mark Mitsnefes,Amy L. Peterson,Julie St-Pierre,Elaine M. Urbina,Justin P. Zachariah,Ali N. Zaidi +12 more
TL;DR: This scientific statement presents considerations for clinical management regarding the assessment and risk reduction of select pediatric populations at high risk for premature cardiovascular disease, including acquired arteriosclerosis or atherosclerosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Associations of Blood Pressure and Cholesterol Levels During Young Adulthood With Later Cardiovascular Events
Yiyi Zhang,Eric Vittinghoff,Mark J. Pletcher,Norrina B. Allen,Adina Zeki Al Hazzouri,Kristine Yaffe,Pallavi Balte,Alvaro Alonso,Anne B. Newman,Diane G. Ives,Jamal S. Rana,Donald M. Lloyd-Jones,Ramachandran S. Vasan,Kirsten Bibbins-Domingo,Holly C. Gooding,Sarah D. de Ferranti,Elizabeth C. Oelsner,Andrew E. Moran +17 more
TL;DR: Cumulative young adult exposures to elevated systolic BP, diastolic BP and LDL were associated with increased CVD risks in later life, independent of later adult exposures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-Term Risk of Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease in US Adults With the Familial Hypercholesterolemia Phenotype.
Amanda M. Perak,Hongyan Ning,Sarah D. de Ferranti,Holly C. Gooding,John T. Wilkins,Donald M. Lloyd-Jones +5 more
TL;DR: In the general US population, the long-term ASCVD burden related to phenotypic FH, defined by low-density lipoprotein cholesterol ≥190 mg/dL, is likely substantial and the finding of CHD risk acceleration may aid efforts in risk communication.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic susceptibility testing from a stress and coping perspective
TL;DR: It is argued that theories which focus on stress and coping provide a useful framework for future studies of genetic testing decisions for adult-onset disease risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
Food Insecurity and Increased BMI in Young Adult Women
TL;DR: Food insecurity was more common in young adult women than young adult men and, after controlling for a variety of individual variables, food insecure women had a BMI that was on average 0.9 kg/m2 units higher than women who were food secure.
