Modelling photovoltaic soiling losses through optical characterization
Greg P. Smestad,Thomas A. Germer,Hameed Alrashidi,Eduardo F. Fernández,Sumon Dey,Honey Brahma,Nabin Sarmah,Aritra Ghosh,Nazmi Sellami,Nazmi Sellami,Ibrahim A. I. Hassan,Ibrahim A. I. Hassan,Mai Desouky,Amal Kasry,Bala Pesala,Senthilarasu Sundaram,Florencia Almonacid,K.S. Reddy,Tapas K. Mallick,Leonardo Micheli,Leonardo Micheli +20 more
TL;DR: It was found that natural soiling disproportionately impacts the blue and ultraviolet portions of the spectrum compared to the visible and infrared (IR) spectrum.
Journal ArticleDOI
A review of algorithms for control and optimization for energy management of hybrid renewable energy systems
TL;DR: An overview of the applications of Genetic Algorithms, Fuzzy logic, Particle Swarm optimization, and similar other evolutionary and nature inspired algorithms that have been employed for the optimization, control, and power management strategies for renewable energy studies involving hybrid power generation schemes is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of Environmental Factors on Photovoltaic Soiling: Experimental and Statistical Analysis
TL;DR: In this article , the transmittance of horizontally mounted glass coupons exposed outdoors in a warm and humid location was measured weekly and these measurements were used to evaluate the variability of soiling and its seasonal correlations with environmental factors using linear regression models and to assess the effectiveness of different cleaning cycles using statistical (F- and t-test) analysis.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Electrical and Thermal Modelling to Evaluate Photovoltaic Module Performance in Varying Outdoor Condition
TL;DR: In this paper, the electrical and thermal performance of a multicrystalline photovoltaic (PV) module is evaluated using numerical methods. And a 3D thermal model has been designed using COMSOL multiphysics to understand the temperature distribution profile in the cells of the module and its effect on the electrical performance of the PV module.
Book ChapterDOI
Technological Development for Capturing Regeneration, Standardization, and Storage of Solar Energy: Current Status and Future Direction
TL;DR: The Indian economy has seen a steady growth in the past few years and is expected to lead others in the coming decade as mentioned in this paper, with growing population, increased energy demand, rising oil prices, and climate change, the choice of adopting renewable energy seems to be of utmost importance.
