Journal ArticleDOI
Implant-derived magnesium induces local neuronal production of CGRP to improve bone-fracture healing in rats
Yifeng Zhang,Jiankun Xu,Ye Chun Ruan,Mei Kuen Yu,Micheal O'Laughlin,Helen Wise,Di Chen,Li Tian,Dufang Shi,Jiali Wang,Sihui Chen,Jian Q. Feng,Dick Ho Kiu Chow,Xinhui Xie,Lizhen Zheng,Le Huang,Shuo Huang,Kwok-Sui Leung,Na Lu,Lan Zhao,Huafang Li,Dewei Zhao,Xia Guo,Kai-Ming Chan,Frank Witte,Hsiao Chang Chan,Yufeng Zheng,Ling Qin +27 more
TL;DR: The formation of abundant new bone at peripheral cortical sites after intramedullary implantation of a pin containing ultrapure magnesium into the intact distal femur in rats suggests the therapeutic potential of this ion in orthopedics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of biodegradable Zn-1X binary alloys with nutrient alloying elements Mg, Ca and Sr.
Huafang Li,Xinhui Xie,Yufeng Zheng,Yingying Cong,F. Y. Zhou,K. J. Qiu,Xinluan Wang,Shaowan Chen,Li Huang,Li Tian,Ling Qin +10 more
TL;DR: The results demonstrated that the Zn-1X (Mg, Ca and Sr) alloys have profoundly modified the mechanical properties and biocompatibility of pure Zn, opening up a new avenue in the area of biodegradable metals.
Journal ArticleDOI
Progress of biodegradable metals
Huafang Li,Yufeng Zheng,Ling Qin +2 more
TL;DR: In this paper, three classes of biodegradable metals (BMs) have been systematically reviewed, including Mg-based, Fe-based and Zn-based BMs, and future research and development direction for the BMs are proposed, based on the clinical requirements on controllable degradation rate, prolonged mechanical stability and excellent biocompatibility.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recent advances in bulk metallic glasses for biomedical applications
Huafang Li,Yufeng Zheng +1 more
TL;DR: The present work reviewed the recent developments and advances of biomedical BMGs, including Ti- based, Zr-based, Fe-based and Mg-based BMG alloying systems, and the possible solution to the BMG size limitation, the brittleness of B MGs has been proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evolution of the degradation mechanism of pure zinc stent in the one-year study of rabbit abdominal aorta model
Hongtao Yang,Cong Wang,Chaoqiang Liu,Houwen Chen,Yifan Wu,J T Han,Zichang Jia,Wenjiao Lin,Deyuan Zhang,Wenting Li,Wei Yuan,Hui Guo,Huafang Li,Guang-Xin Yang,Deling Kong,Donghui Zhu,Kazuki Takashima,Liqun Ruan,Jian Feng Nie,Xuan Li,Yufeng Zheng +20 more
TL;DR: The favorable physiological degradation behavior of pure zinc stents makes zinc a promising candidate for future stent applications.
