David R. Boulware,Matthew F Pullen,Ananta S. Bangdiwala,Katelyn A Pastick,Sarah M Lofgren,Elizabeth C Okafor,Caleb P Skipper,Alanna A Nascene,Melanie R. Nicol,Mahsa Abassi,Nicole W. Engen,Matthew P. Cheng,Derek LaBar,Sylvain A. Lother,Lauren J. MacKenzie,Glen Drobot,Nicole Marten,Ryan Zarychanski,Lauren E. Kelly,Ilan S. Schwartz,Emily G. McDonald,Radha Rajasingham,Todd C. Lee,Kathy H. Hullsiek +23 more
TL;DR: After high-risk or moderate-risk exposure to Covid-19, hydroxychloroquine did not prevent illness compatible with Covid -19 or confirmed infection when used as postexposure prophylaxis within 4 days after exposure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hydroxychloroquine in Nonhospitalized Adults With Early COVID-19 : A Randomized Trial.
Caleb P Skipper,Katelyn A Pastick,Nicole S Engen,Ananta S Bangdiwala,Mahsa Abassi,Sarah M Lofgren,Darlisha A. Williams,Elizabeth C Okafor,Matthew F Pullen,Melanie R. Nicol,Alanna A Nascene,Katherine Huppler Hullsiek,Matthew P. Cheng,Darlette Luke,Sylvain A. Lother,Lauren J. MacKenzie,Glen Drobot,Lauren E. Kelly,Ilan S. Schwartz,Ryan Zarychanski,Emily G. McDonald,Todd C. Lee,Radha Rajasingham,David R. Boulware +23 more
TL;DR: This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial evaluated effects of oral hydroxychloroquine on symptoms and disease severity in adult outpatients with early COVID-19.
Journal ArticleDOI
Emerging Fungal Infections: New Patients, New Patterns, and New Pathogens.
TL;DR: The use of mould-active antifungal prophylaxis in patients with cancer or transplantation has decreased the incidence of invasive fungal disease, but shifted the balance of mould disease in these patients to those from non-fumigatus Aspergillus species, Mucorales, and Scedosporium/Lomentospora spp.
Journal ArticleDOI
Review: Hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine for treatment of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19)
Katelyn A Pastick,Elizabeth C Okafor,Fan Wang,Sarah M Lofgren,Caleb P Skipper,Melanie R. Nicol,Matthew F Pullen,Radha Rajasingham,Emily G. McDonald,Todd C. Lee,Ilan S. Schwartz,Lauren E. Kelly,Sylvain A. Lother,Oriol Mitjà,Emili Letang,Mahsa Abassi,David R. Boulware +16 more
TL;DR: A rapid narrative review and call for additional randomized controlled trial evidence prior to the widespread incorporation of hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine into national and international treatment guidelines are called for.
Journal ArticleDOI
Re-drawing the Maps for Endemic Mycoses
Nida Ashraf,Ryan Kubat,Victoria Poplin,Antoine Adenis,David W. Denning,Laura Wright,Orion McCotter,Ilan S. Schwartz,Brendan R Jackson,Tom Chiller,Nathan C. Bahr +10 more
TL;DR: This review will focus on the evidence underlying the established areas of endemicity for these mycoses as well as new data and reports from medical literature that support the re-thinking these geographic boundaries.
