Journal ArticleDOI
Fatty acyl-CoA thioesters are ligands of hepatic nuclear factor-4α
TL;DR: It is shown that long-chain fatty acids directly modulate the transcriptional activity of HNF-4α by binding as their acyl-CoA thioesters to the ligand-binding domain of H NF-4 α.
Journal ArticleDOI
Thyromimetic mode of action of peroxisome proliferators: activation of 'malic' enzyme gene transcription.
TL;DR: Hertz et al. as mentioned in this paper showed that thyroid-hormone-dependent liver activation is mediated by a transduction pathway similar to that involved in transcriptional activation of peroxisomal beta-oxidative genes and distinct from that which mediates thyroid hormone action.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rescue of MODY-1 by Agonist Ligands of Hepatocyte Nuclear Factor-4α
Rachel Hertz,Nadav Ben-Haim,Anca D. Petrescu,Bella Kalderon,Inna Berman,Naama Eldad,Friedhelm Schroeder,Jacob Bar-Tana +7 more
TL;DR: It is shown here that MODY-1 as well as Gln-185 missense mutants of the ligand binding domain of HNF-4α fail to transactivate transcription of H NF-4 α-responsive genes, which may indicate the means for treating selected MODy-1 subjects with HNF -4α agonist nutrients and drugs.
