Introducing the Bird Chromosome Database: An Overview of Cytogenetic Studies in Birds.
Tiago Marafiga Degrandi,Suziane Alves Barcellos,Alice Lemos Costa,Analía Del Valle Garnero,Iris Hass,Ricardo José Gunski +5 more
TL;DR: The BCD will enable researchers to identify the main knowledge gaps in bird cytogenetics, including the most under-sampled groups, and make inferences on chromosomal homologies in phylogenetic studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
The distribution of 45S rDNA sites in bird chromosomes suggests multiple evolutionary histories.
Tiago Marafiga Degrandi,Ricardo José Gunski,Analía Del Valle Garnero,Edivaldo Herculano Corrêa de Oliveira,Rafael Kretschmer,Marcelo Santos de Souza,Suziane Alves Barcellos,Iris Hass +7 more
TL;DR: Overall, this study indicated that the redistribution of the 45S rDNA sites in bird chromosomes followed different evolutionary trajectories with respect to each lineage of the class Aves.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparative chromosome maps of neotropical rodents Necromys lasiurus and Thaptomys nigrita (Cricetidae) established by ZOO-FISH.
TL;DR: The phylogenetic reconstruction by maximum parsimony analysis of chromosomal characters confirmed one consistent clade of all Neotropical rodents studied so far, and delineate evolutionary chromosomal rearrangements in Cricetidae rodents and reconstruct the phylogenetic relationships among the Akodontini species.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bibimys labiosus Winge, 1887 (Mammalia: Rodentia: Sigmodontinae): new records in Paraná state, southern Brazil, and update of the known geographic distribution
Guilherme Grazzini,Josias Alan Rezini,Beatrice Stein Boraschi dos Santos,Fernando José Venâncio,Fernanda Gatto-Almeida,Ives José Sbalqueiro,Iris Hass,Liliani Marilia Tiepolo +7 more
TL;DR: Four new localities of the Bibimys labiosus species are presented in Araucaria Forest, Parana state, extending its distribution 150 km southwards, indicating the lack of knowledge about basic aspects of the small non-flying mammal fauna in the plateau regions of Brazil.
Journal ArticleDOI
B Chromosome Diversity and Repetitive Sequence Distribution in an Isolated Population of Akodon montensis (Rodentia, Sigmodontinae).
Amanda de Araújo Soares,Jonathan Pena Castro,Pedro Balieiro,Sidnei S. Dornelles,Tiago Marafiga Degrandi,Ives José Sbalqueiro,Roberto Ferreira Artoni,Iris Hass +7 more
TL;DR: Chromosome painting with the B probes revealed a homologous composition for all B chromosome morphotypes and no homology with the chromosomes in the A complement, which indicates B chromosomes found in this population may have a common origin and subsequently diversified in size and morphology.
