Journal ArticleDOI
Tick-borne encephalitis in Europe and Russia: Review of pathogenesis, clinical features, therapy, and vaccines.
Daniel Ruzek,Tatjana Avšič Županc,Johannes P. Borde,Aleš Chrdle,Ludek Eyer,Galina G. Karganova,Ivan S. Kholodilov,Nataša Knap,Liubov I. Kozlovskaya,Andrey L. Matveev,Andrew D. Miller,Dmitry I. Osolodkin,Anna K. Överby,Nina V. Tikunova,Sergey Tkachev,Joanna Zajkowska +15 more
TL;DR: This review summarizes available data on the pathogenesis and clinical features of TBE, plus different vaccine preparations available in Europe and Russia, plus new treatment possibilities, including small molecule drugs and experimental immunotherapies are reviewed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Isolation and Characterisation of Alongshan Virus in Russia.
Ivan S. Kholodilov,Alexander G. Litov,Alexander S. Klimentov,Oxana A. Belova,Alexandra E. Polienko,Nikolai Nikitin,Shchetinin Am,Anna Y. Ivannikova,Lesley Bell-Sakyi,Alexander S. Yakovlev,S. V. Bugmyrin,Liubov A. Bespyatova,Larissa V. Gmyl,Svetlana V. Luchinina,Anatoly P. Gmyl,Vladimir A. Gushchin,Galina G. Karganova +16 more
TL;DR: Alongshan virus (ALSV), which is a representative of the JMV group, is detected in ten pools of adult Ixodes persulcatus ticks collected in two geographically-separated Russian regions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Protective immunity spectrum induced by immunization with a vaccine from the TBEV strain Sofjin.
Liubov L. Chernokhaeva,Yu.V. Rogova,Mikhail F. Vorovitch,L.Iu. Romanova,Liubov I. Kozlovskaya,Galina B. Maikova,Ivan S. Kholodilov,Galina G. Karganova +7 more
TL;DR: It was shown that after a course of two immunizations, factors such as the period between vaccinations, the challenging virus dose and terms of challenge did not significantly affect the assessment of protective efficacy of the vaccine in vivo.
Journal ArticleDOI
Properties of the tick-borne encephalitis virus population during persistent infection of ixodid ticks and tick cell lines.
Oxana A. Belova,Alexander G. Litov,Ivan S. Kholodilov,Liubov I. Kozlovskaya,Lesley Bell-Sakyi,Lesley Bell-Sakyi,Lidiya Iu. Romanova,Galina G. Karganova +7 more
TL;DR: Evaluated the selective pressure on the TBEV population during persistent infection of various species of ticks and tick cell lines to find virus variants with properties of the original strain adapted to mouse CNS were not eliminated from the viral population during long-term persistence.
Posted ContentDOI
First isolation and characterisation of Alongshan virus in Russia
Ivan S. Kholodilov,Alexander G. Litov,Alexander S. Klimentov,Oxana A. Belova,Alexandra E. Polienko,Nikolai Nikitin,Shchetinin Am,Anna Y. Ivannikova,Lesley Bell-Sakyi,Alexander S. Yakovlev,S. V. Bugmyrin,Liubov A. Bespyatova,Larissa V. Gmyl,Svetlana V. Luchinina,Anatoly P. Gmyl,Vladimir A. Gushchin,Galina G. Karganova +16 more
TL;DR: The value of tick cell lines in virus isolation and maintenance of persistent infection is confirmed and evidence for the existence of a novel upstream ORF in the glycoprotein-coding segment of ALSV and other members of the Jingmen tick virus group is found.
