Optical spectra of Ln3+(Nd3+, Sm3+, Dy3+, Ho3+, Er3+)-doped Y3GaO6

TL;DR: In this paper, X-ray powder diffraction shows that the lattice parameters of the compounds (Y(0.96)Ln( 0.04))(3)GaO6 decrease with the decrease of the radii of trivalent ln(3+) ions, indicating that Ln( 3+) ions have substituted for y(3+ ions in the lattices.

Simultaneously improving elastic modulus and damping capacity of extruded Mg-Gd-Y-Zn-Mn alloy via alloying with Si

TL;DR: In this article, the elastic modulus of the extruded Mg-Gd-Y-Zn-Mn alloy with a trace amount of Si was shown to be 49.3 GPa, 8 GPa greater than that of extruded pure Mg, which was attributed to the high density of thermal mismatch dislocations in the vicinity of the interfaces between the reinforcing phase and the α-Mg matrix.
