Journal ArticleDOI

Amphotericin B versus amphotericin B plus 5-flucytosine: Poor results in the treatment of proven systemic mycoses in neutropenic patients

TL;DR: Treatment with both regimens was disappointing partly because mycosis was too far advanced by the time therapy was begun and neutrophils were recovered in only half the patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ceftazidime as monotherapy or combined with teicoplanin for initial empiric treatment of presumed bacteremia in febrile granulocytopenic patients.

TL;DR: While teicoplanin provides simple, reliable, and safe treatment of patients with presumed gram-positive infections, it is not useful when given empirically to this patient population, and treatment may result in more infective complications and adverse events.
Journal ArticleDOI

EUCAST breakpoints for antifungals.

TL;DR: The aim of this work is to describe the EUCAST process of setting breakpoints for antifungals and to highlight the importance of knowing the correlation of MICs with clinical outcome of patients treated with the compound.
Journal ArticleDOI

Oral ketoconazole and amphotericin B for the prevention of yeast colonization in patients with acute leukaemia.

TL;DR: It is concluded that ketoconazole was neither more nor less effective than amphotericin B in the prevention of yeast colonization in neutropenic patients.
