Multi locus sequence typing of Chlamydiales: clonal groupings within the obligate intracellular bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis

TL;DR: A multi locus sequence typing (MLST) scheme to understand the population genetic structure and diversity of these species and to evaluate the association between genotype and disease shows that C. trachomatis and C. pneumoniae are highly uniform, which supports the taxonomy of the order of Chlamydiales.
Journal ArticleDOI

Molecular evidence for the existence of additional members of the order Chlamydiales.

Jacobus M. Ossewaarde, +1 more
- 01 Feb 1999 -
TL;DR: Evidence is provided for the existence of several new members of the order Chlamydiales as well as a new lineage separating 'S. negevensis' and 'P. acanthamoebae' from the genus Chlamydia with the four known chlamydIAL species.
Journal ArticleDOI

Serotyping and Genotyping of Genital Chlamydia trachomatis Isolates Reveal Variants of Serovars Ba, G, and J as Confirmed by omp1 Nucleotide Sequence Analysis

TL;DR: This study shows that the PCR-based genotyping of clinical C. trachomatis isolates by RFLP analysis ofomp1 has a higher discriminatory power and is more convenient than serotyping.

Lymphogranuloma Venereum Among Men Who Have Sex with Men --- Netherlands, 2003--2004

TL;DR: Health-care providers should be vigilant for LGV, especially among MSM exposed to persons from Europe, and prepared to diagnose the disease and provide appropriate treatment to patients and their exposed sex partners.
