Organic solar cells based on conjugated polymers : History and recent advances

TL;DR: In this article, the authors summarized the important aspects of organic solar cells, particularly focusing on conjugated polymers as an active layer component, and introduced a bulk heterojunction concept that overcomes the weakness of organic semiconductors by minimizing their charge transport paths through making effective p-n junctions inside bulk organic films.
Journal ArticleDOI

Significant Stability Enhancement in High-Efficiency Polymer:Fullerene Bulk Heterojunction Solar Cells by Blocking Ultraviolet Photons from Solar Light.

TL;DR: Results show that the PTB7‐Th:PC71BM solar cell with UCF exhibits extremely slow decay in power conversion efficiency (PCE) but a rapidly decayed PCE is measured for the device without UCF.
Journal ArticleDOI

In situ -prepared composite materials of PEDOT: PSS buffer layer-metal nanoparticles and their application to organic solar cells

TL;DR: Organic solar cells with the structure of ITO/PEDOT:PSS-Au, Ag NPs/poly(3-hexylthiophene):[6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (P3HT:PCBM)/LiF/Al exhibited an 8% improvement in their power conversion efficiency, which lead to an improvement in the charge collection and ultimately improvements in the shortcircuit current density and fill factor.
Journal ArticleDOI

Solution-processable all-small molecular bulk heterojunction films for stable organic photodetectors: near UV and visible light sensing

TL;DR: In this paper, stable organic photodetectors with all-small molecular bulk heterojunction (BHJ) sensing layers prepared using solutions of electron-donating and electron-accepting small molecules were reported.
