Journal ArticleDOI
Topics and methods for data validation by means of Bayesian probability theory
TL;DR: In this paper, the analysis of Thomson scattering data is discussed, and capabilities for assessing diagnostic setups are outlined, as well as technical issues resulting from desired on-line capabilities are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
ECE Diagnostic for the initial Operation of Wendelstein 7-X
M. Hirsch,U. Höfel,J. W. Oosterbeek,N. Chaudhary,J. Geiger,Hans-Jürgen Hartfuss,W. Kasparek,Nikolai B. Marushchenko,Boudewijn Ph. van Milligen,Burkhard Plaum,Torsten Stange,Jakob Svensson,Hayato Tsuchiya,D. Wagner,Gavin McWeir,Robert Wolf +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, the ECE diagnostic at W7-X in its standard mode of operation measures in X2 mode polarization with a 32 channel radiometer in the frequency band around 140 GHz for central magnetic field 2.5T.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bayesian modeling of microwave radiometer calibration on the example of the Wendelstein 7-X electron cyclotron emission diagnostic.
U. Hoefel,M. Hirsch,Sehyun Kwak,Sehyun Kwak,Andrea Pavone,Jakob Svensson,Torsten Stange,H.-J. Hartfuß,Jonathan Schilling,G. M. Weir,J. W. Oosterbeek,S. A. Bozhenkov,H. Braune,Kai Jakob Brunner,N. Chaudhary,H. Damm,G. Fuchert,J. P. Knauer,Heinrich P. Laqua,S. Marsen,Dmitry Moseev,E. Pasch,E. R. Scott,Fabian Wilde,Robert Wolf,Wendelstein X Team +25 more
TL;DR: A forward model suitable for any radiometer calibration using the hot/cold method and a periodic switch between them has been developed and used to extract the voltage difference between the hot and cold temperature source via Bayesian analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bayesian modelling of a thermal helium beam for measurement of electron density and temperature in the W7-X divertor plasma
TL;DR: In this paper, the beam propagation for detached plasma conditions in the W7-X divertor region was investigated based on a background plasma simulated with a 3D plasma and neutral transport code EMC3/EIRENE, in which the electron density in the divertor may well exceed 1020m−3.
Journal Article
Model Data Fusion: developing Bayesian inversion to constrain equilibrium and mode structure
Matthew Hole,Gregory von Nessi,Jason Bertram,Jakob Svensson,L.C. Appel,Boyd Blackwell,Robert L. Dewar,John Howard +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a probabilistic framework, MINERVA, based on Bayesian graphical models, has been used at JET and W7-AS to yield predictions of internal magnetic structure.
