TLDR
In this paper, the analysis of Thomson scattering data is discussed, and capabilities for assessing diagnostic setups are outlined, as well as technical issues resulting from desired on-line capabilities are discussed.Abstract:
Steady-state fusion devices, such as Wendelstein 7-X, require new approaches for data analysis. These efforts are motivated by both the physics and the technical requirements of steady-state operation. Diagnostic data and physics information, such as modeling results, are linked to arrive at an integrated data analysis. For this purpose, methods of Bayesian probability theory are employed. The analysis of Thomson scattering data is discussed. Capabilities for assessing diagnostic setups are outlined. Extension to more complex analyses are presented. Technical issues resulting from desired on-line capabilities are discussed.read more

Probabilistic Lithium beam data analysis
TL;DR: In this paper, a probabilistic data analysis method was applied to analyze the spatially resolved beam emission intensities from the lithium beam diagnostic at ASDEX Upgrade, which allows us to recover density profiles from the Li I emission profile with a spatial resolution of 5 mm and a temporal resolution of 50 µs.

Diagnostics for steady state plasmas
TL;DR: In this article, problems arising from high power ECRH under conditions of incomplete absorption are discussed, and individual standard diagnostic systems are discussed to identify their specific problems as well as the opportunities connected with long pulse operation.

Bayesian modelling of fusion diagnostics
TL;DR: In this article, the integration of different diagnostics requires systematic and formalized error analysis for all uncertainties involved, which has an impact on both diagnostic improvement and design, and the inclusion of first-principle information is discussed in terms of improvements.
