Response to Letter Regarding Article, “Bicuspid Aortic Cusp Fusion Morphology Alters Aortic Three-Dimensional Outflow Patterns, Wall Shear Stress, and Expression of Aortopathy”
Riti Mahadevia,Alex J. Barker,Susanne Schnell,Pegah Entezari,Preeti Kansal,Paul W.M. Fedak,S. Chris Malaisrie,Patrick M. McCarthy,Jeremy D. Collins,James C. Carr,Michael Markl +10 more
TL;DR: To confirm their initial comment, indeed, the ascending aortic flow displacement parameter was not normalized to the individual vessel diameter, and it is agreed with Hope et al that flow displacement should ideally be normalized by the lumen diameter to account for interindividual differences in aorti geometry.
Journal ArticleDOI
Aortic enlargement in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and emphysema: The Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA) COPD study.
Kana Fujikura,Alessandra Albini,R. Graham Barr,Megha A. Parikh,Julia Kern,Eric A. Hoffman,Grant Hiura,David A. Bluemke,James C. Carr,Joao A.C. Lima,Erin D. Michos,Antoinette S. Gomes,Martin R. Prince +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, aorta diameters were measured on 3D magnetic resonance angiography in smokers recruited from the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA), the Emphysema and Cancer Action Project (EMCAP), and the local community.
Journal ArticleDOI
Myocarditis in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy After Changing Steroids
Abdul Rahman A. Abutaleb,Elizabeth M. McNally,Sadiya S. Khan,Allen S. Anderson,James C. Carr,Jane E. Wilcox +5 more
TL;DR: This case highlights adverse effects associated with changing between corticosteroid classes in DMD cardiomyopathy and also demonstrates the utility of CMR in detecting myocardial inflammation and monitoring response to treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Three-Dimensional Blood Flow Alterations After Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation
TL;DR: Findings are presented in a 79-year-old man after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) for severe symptomatic aortsic stenosis using a 26-mm Edwards Lifesciences Sapien 9000TFX valve who underwent transapical delivery of the valve without complication.
Journal ArticleDOI
Baseline 4D Flow-Derived in vivo Hemodynamic Parameters Stratify Descending Aortic Dissection Patients With Enlarging Aortas
Stanley Chu,Ozden Kilinc,Maurice Pradella,Elizabeth Weiss,Justin J Baraboo,Anthony Maroun,Kelly Jarvis,Christopher K. Mehta,S. Chris Malaisrie,Andrew W. Hoel,James C. Carr,Michael Markl,Bradley D. Allen +12 more
TL;DR: 4D flow MRI is a promising tool for TBAD evaluation that can provide information beyond traditional MRA or CTA and has the potential to become an integral aspect of TBAD work-up, as hemodynamic assessment may allow earlier identification of at-risk patients who could benefit from earlier intervention.
